Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's birthday wish has come true as Labor is projected to retain its seat following a by-election in Melbourne's Dunkley electorate triggered by the death of MP Peta Murphy.

ABC election analyst Antony Green called the seat for Labor with 59 per cent of the votes counted at 8.45pm on Saturday.

Labor and the Liberals both tempered expectations of victory in the vote triggered after Ms Murphy lost her battle with cancer in December.

Community leader Jodie Belyea retained the seat for Labor despite a swing in the seat Ms Murphy held on to a 6.3 per cent margin.

The opposition pinned its hopes on Frankston City Council mayor Nathan Conroy running for the Liberal Party, but the 3.8 per cent swing he managed was not enough to secure the seat.

     Again I tend to agree with Brian's yawning emoji...

That threads that start out with some promise of a reasoned debate
but quickly degrade into offensive, off-topic, childish slanging matches
is as good a reason as any to ignore them, or not bother participating.

And this is a classic example of the poor moderation apparent across
all these forums.  Time and again the forum's rules are breached by
people who should rightly be sanctioned, but who're invariably allowed
to continue with their puerile drivel.

The constant references to other members purportedly being "paedophiles"
or "rapists" is really pushing the boundaries of what's normally considered
reasonable public discourse.

But of course these adult children can hide behind the anonymity of
their keyboards can't they?   Pathetic.

You lost it right at the start, like a horse still stuck in the gate. But then you made a good recovery back to the pack.

All that has to happen is ban the few members who purposely antagonise (Troll) Topics & Members to be corrupted and structured around them or at least to derail, destruct or demean.
It's pretty easy to do due to their consistency.

The only two of Troll renowned are Aussie and Mothra.
Aussie has in the last year, toned down a lot. Maybe he's scared of you Geoff?
Mothra is a Troll, but she is an occassional visitor and does try to argue her points and reasons why. At least she makes an 'effort' to some degree even if she is aiming to spoil your day.

With these members permanently banned - you will find that there is no longer a 'cause for alarm' and discussions going ubiquitously everywhere at once.
I would hate to see this Forum turn out like Whirlpool, rigid and no 'personalities' or flexibility.

Ozpol is more better, than it is worse. FD does allow the Forum 'flexibility' in the wind, so as not to break outright and thick skin so as not to burn right through in a fire.

As we have seen in the past with the likes of IQSRlow, AiA, FTLW and a few others - Members Power does work and its up to the Members as a whole to convince not just FD, but the Gmods to take action and make the difference.
