Great writing from Tolstoy.

But - post Freud, we can see  some errors creeping in:

"We need only confess that we do not know the purpose of the European convulsions and that we know only the facts"

The "purpose" of the convulsions?

What about the causes - found in the hearts of men?

What about them, '40 million deaths as admin error' ***wit?

Some classic 'whataboutism' from Frank, who is frothing at the mouth because Mao didn't know how to manage change from oppressive serfdom to well-being of the proletariat.

A bit different to why Napoleon wanted to rule Europe.

What about post Freud?

I'm referencing the naturally competitive, self-interested ego and id....to explain why men go to war.

Tolstoy seemed to look to the purpose of war - ie to make Napoleon and his subjects great,  in a power grab in Europe.

But what was driving Napoleon?

(sigh.... spelling things out for the ideologically blind, my  burden...)

Your being a ****ing ignorant parrot is OUR burden.

You talk complete mush and bollocks because you understand absolutely nothing, not even your own mindless slogans.

What was Mao's 'consensus merit' to make him able to **** thinks up SOO monumentally? He had none other than sheer terror and ruthless suppression of reason and a monumental ego which he deployed in favour of moronic ideology.  You are all for the same mindless nonsense. Talk to us about the egos and self-interest of the hideous Maos, Gangs of Four, Stalins and the rest of your gallery of rogues  and egomaniacal commie monsters.

As for Tolstoy, Napoleon, European history - you have no idea, not even a faint, nodding acquaintance, you just parrot your ignorant, idiotic crap.

Thank you, Sigmund.

This site wouldn't  permit corrections...it appears to be working properly today.

But we know you can't think.

Have a shot at explaining the causes of war, rather than the "purposes" (as per Tolstoy).

Just shut up you phucktard.

Er...the subject is Tolstoy, not Mao...stop frothing at the mouth, and  address the point (causes of war cf 'purposes')

While Stalin treated Mao as the backward fool he was, Mao sat at the feet of Stalin, like a backward fool that he was.

While you remain deluded by FD's "shared belief equals reality" delusion, based on the West's Classical  'natural  individual rights' delusion.

Get to it, start thinking about how to create morality, justice and fairness among naturally competitive, self-interested  individuals.

Wrong: Mao had no possibility of exercising consensus in a backward subsistence nation of a billion uneducated people.

Do try to keep up.

Now Frank is trying repeats as a way of dealing with posts he can't answer.

eg
repeat
"As for Tolstoy, Napoleon, European history - you have no idea, not even a faint, nodding acquaintance, you just parrot your ignorant, idiotic crap."

Understandigng causes of war are more important than the (hidden, according to Tolstoy) "purposes" of war.

So how did he get into power?

Consensus among the small number of revolutionaries at the time.

So he made mistakes because all of them were operating without an economics  guide book for a socialist revolution  in a subsistence, pre-industrial society (Marx assumed an industrial economy - ie Europe - as a given).

So, Mao and his killers, then... Who hid out while the Nationalists fought the Japanese.
