Note the contradiction in the propaganda from the delusional 'democracy equals freedom' Chinese ideologues on Taiwan, who are threatening other Chinese on the island who dare to express doubts about the US and to seek a better relationship with their compatriots on the mainland:
(Global Times editorial)
Lai Ching-te’s ‘green terror’ will turn Taiwan island into a cage
On Thursday, Lai Ching-te held a so-called "high-level national security meeting." Following this meeting, he delivered a speech in which he once again pushed the divisive and misguided notion of the two sides of the Taiwan Straits "not being subordinate to each other," arrogantly claiming that "Taiwan is a sovereign, independent, democratic nation." He exaggerated the "threats" from the mainland, labeling it a "foreign hostile force," and put forward what he called "17 major strategies" to counter what he described as "five major national security issues." This series of words and actions not only exposed Lai's stubborn pro-"Taiwan independence" stance, but also revealed his vile character - willing to sacrifice the well-being of the people on the island to escalate tensions for his own political gains. He is increasingly reckless on the path of betraying the nation and harming Taiwan region.
The so-called "17 major strategies" proposed by Lai are essentially aimed at pushing Taiwan island into a state of martial law or quasi-martial law. The "green terror" policy, under the guise of a "mainland threat," is being used to carry out a large-scale purge of dissenting voices within the island, which will cause immeasurable damage to Taiwan region's society. After Lai made these unfounded remarks, he quickly faced strong opposition within Taiwan island. Tourism industry personnel, who were victims of Lai's policies, responded bitterly: "Why not just declare martial law?"
Some voices within the island also expressed that Lai Ching-te is attempting to sever all ties and interactions between the people in Taiwan and the mainland, and they ask, "How is this any different from the past 'white terror?'" The high-pressure "green terror" tactics of Lai's administration have only fostered a climate of fear and insecurity within the island's society, while the Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP) globally flaunted "democratic" image has been thoroughly discredited.
Driven solely by his own and his party's selfish interests, Lai has been widely disseminating "Taiwan independence" separatist rhetoric and inciting "anti-China resistance." By fabricating a sense of crisis to intimidate Taiwan society, he is blatantly hijacking public opinion. His objective is clear: to tie Taiwan residents to the "Taiwan independence" chariot, and using authoritarian coercion to maintain his hold on power. Criticism such as "Those who play with fire will perish by it" and "Abuse of power and violation of the law" is echoing across the island. It is clear to any discerning observer that every single one of the so-called "17 strategies" is a path leading to destruction. Lai is not only an unabashed "disruptor of peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits" and "creator of crisis in the Taiwan Straits" but also an element of instability for the entire world, who seeks to drag external forces along into a dangerous path toward conflict.
Recently, voices on the Taiwan island have been raising doubts about the US. While Lai constantly invokes democracy and freedom, one must ask: Do ordinary Taiwan residents have the freedom to harbor doubts about the US? Do they have the freedom to express a desire for reunification? The DPP authorities disregard facts and brandish the "national security and united front threat" label to silence all dissent. This is a typical case of "fake democracy, real dictatorship." From arbitrarily banning mainland film and TV software, everyday snacks, and shopping platforms; to restricting domestic exchanges and cooperation with mainland universities and requiring some Taiwan residents to declare whether they have mainland identification documents; and now to the reinstatement of military court, monitoring Taiwan residents traveling to the mainland, and tightening control over artists developing their careers there - Lai's actions and rhetoric in obstructing cross-Straits exchanges and cooperation are not only reprehensible in nature, but his methods are also extreme and unscrupulous.
Facts have repeatedly proven that Taiwan's future lies in national reunification, and the well-being of the Taiwan compatriots is tied to the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. The only proper designation for the island is "China's Taiwan Province," and the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces within the province pose the greatest threat to peace and stability in the Taiwan Straits.
The Anti-Secession Law reflects the mainland's commitment to pursuing reunification in a manner that best aligns with the expectations of people on both sides of the Taiwan Straits. Article 6 of the law outlines five encouraging measures, demonstrating genuine goodwill and warmth toward the people in Taiwan.
But unfortunately not the expectations of the delusional 'democracy equals freedom' ideogues.
