If Gazans really wanted peace they would release the hostages and renounce violence against Israel.  But they are all Hamas so the war goes on.
The IDF, unlike the US military, in not in Gaza to 'nation build'. Gaza is not Afghanistan or Iraq. The IDF went in with a very clear objective: erase Hamas.  All of Gaza is Hamas.
