Last night, I overloaded the power board and shorted out the kitchen appliances. Luckily, I had cooked my meal and just had to finish off the gravy. I went downstairs to check to see what had shorted out in the power box. After fiddling around with things, I figured out the combination swap, with the sound of the static charge for one of the fuses.

And Dad came around yesterday to fix the leaking hot water tap. Given that he was the only one with the necessary tools to do so. I would have been calling a plumber, otherwise.

Even my 22-year-old daughter has done an auto electrician course. I only know basic care care. It is a little embarrassing that I can be near middle-aged and not have some moderate handyman skills.

That's dangerous rocky. I have a restricted electrical ticket.
The ELCB switches on your power board are a GOOD upgrade. They replace the fuses.

Your Dad would have loved to fix your tap.

When I got here the house had actual fuses in the meter box! I was thinking “Do they still sell fuse wire?”

Have a modern power board now—found out because of it that the powerpoint in the laundry had been wired wrong with neutral wired to the return point and the return wire to the earth point—fuse didn’t care but the power board detected it.

Dad is mechanically minded enough to do this work. I just let him be the handyman for the house I rent off his wife.

That is honourable. The soldiers around here said that if I was in the army, I would have had my head smacked in for being a smart arse. But, being a civilian, they just don't see the point of hitting me. Not even the week long boot camp I did (off the record) at Shaolwater Bay, when I was 18 years old counts for too much these days, other than my First Aid refresher course.
