The Age Of Entitlement
Apr 11th, 2024 at 12:27pm

A bar owner has called for Youth Allowance and JobSeeker payments to be raised so that young Aussies can afford a night out and tickets to a music festival.

Ancient World co-owner Hugh Scobie made the call warning young Australians were being crushed by the cost-of-living crisis.

Musical festivals were once a rite of passage for many young Australians, however economic pressures has seen a dip in ticket sales, while several festivals, including Splendour in the Grass, have been forced to cancel as a result.

So, what Hugh appears to be saying is it doesn't matter if the young and jobless young can't afford to buy food or pay their rent, etc. as long as they have enough money to go to bars and festivals.

Sounds about right for Australia today.

I want to know what this has to do with 'entitlement'?

The bar owner is being a true capitalist. Hardly entitlement.

Another Media cultured Lefty sponging off Politics for more money for the Media Industry.
Maybe they should ask the Media and the $450m of taxpayer's money they got for some stupid YES campaign? The Media should be paying a good percentage of the Dole for the stupid crap they do to this country.

Look what the Media culture and its tourism did to Alice Springs: turned it into a Turd Festival.

Listen dumbarse,  this isn't about entitlement.  The person asking for more doesn't feel entitled.  He just wants more cash flow.  Not sure why anyone needs to explain it to you.  You do read English,  right?

The person asking for youth to have more money for entertainment… well that’s nice yeah…
The youth have memories, and the club owner has more money.
Next restaurants will ask for youth to have more money to dine in style more.
The gym owners should too…. Get the youth back into shape after boozy clubs and eating too much  Grin

Well, naturally Ancient World co-owner Hugh Scobie would make
this call for increased Youth and Job Seeker allowances to be
tabled;  he'd potentially increase profits himself if this were to happen.
Currently, door admission prices are a sliding $10 to $20.  Scobie
obviously wants more.

   Talk about venal self-interest!    Angry

I wonder how young Australians got on with the economic pressures & money for entertainment during the Great Depression??

Heaven forbid they have to face any adversity today .... just dish out more money to the poor deprived little diddums.

Smith you should pay more taxes so they can party on. Roll Eyes
