Police release statement, confirm man shot
Police have just released this holding statement:

Saturday, 13 April 2024 04:36:50 PM

A critical incident has commenced following the shooting of male at Bondi Junction.

Just before 4pm (Saturday 13 April 2024), emergency services were called to Westfield Bondi Junction following reports of multiple people stabbed.

People are urged to avoid the area.

Inquiries are continuing in relation to the incident and there are no further details.

Police confirmed a man was shot and witnesses say a mother and baby are among the stabbing victims
There are reports of up to six people dead in a stabbing spree at Bondi Junction shopping centre on Saturday afternoon.

“Many more” are in a critical condition, a police source not authorised to speak publicly said.

Police have shot a male offender; it is unclear if the shot was fatal.

When I finished work and read the news I just felt dread. Wife said she didn't go as she was too tired.

The community that is protesting against Israel is going too have their life’s changed in Australia and not in a good way.

The politicians who support this tiny imported community will be dealt with in good time as well.

Right-wing terrorism is the biggest domestic threat (by far) to western nations around the world, so I certainly wouldn't discount the possibility.

If only those people were carrying a Beretta pistol or something for their protection. More lives would have been saved. Five people have been killed in a mass stabbing
at a busy shopping center in Sydney, Australian police said.

Police were called to Westfield Bondi Junction on Saturday afternoon local time following reports of multiple people stabbed.

The suspect - who police said acted alone - was shot dead at the scene by a lone officer.

New South Wales Police’s Assistant Commissioner Anthony Cooke said said that the attacker raised his knife at her and “she discharged her firearm, and that person is now deceased.”

No information has been given as to his identity or a possible motive but Cooke said they were “not ruling anything out.”

Was it another right-wing terrorist attack?

Brenton Harrison Tarrant (born 27 October 1990), a white Australian man, was 28 years old at the time of the shootings.

He grew up in Grafton, New South Wales, where he attended Grafton High School.

On 26 March 2020, he pled guilty to 51 murders, 40 attempted murders, and engaging in a terrorist act.
