Came home yesterday afternoon, put purchases away, fed the mutt, made a coffee then logged onto the regular HB chat. Not a sign of anything wrong.

Later, wanted to clean up after dinner—no hot water. Have a look at HWS—water flowing out the top!

Got the local plumber and he turned off the power to the HWS (electric, no gas here) and then turned off the water on the service. Nearly $800 later I will have a new HWS. They are supposed to last 12 years—this one was 30 years old! Hey the house was a rental so just bodgy something up, eh?

Well, plumber just gone. Despite suffering from covid he ordered and installed (quick & rough instal) a new HWS. No charge—he is renting my big garage to store stuff so that will cover that.

Kept my distance but likely I will have caught covid from him.
