They do, Setanta. A refugee came to our country, got a job and got stabbed to death. We offered him a brand new start.

Ultimately, we couldn't help with that, but we don't have to trash his memory. We're free to say his name, no?

What makes you imagine that people here haven't been praising his efforts?

Chip on the shoulder?  Is that what's behind all the snide remarks over the years that you thought were so funny and I always thought you were joking about...... just your soft underbelly of an inferiority complex?  Shoe on the other foot not so good, eh?

No more snide remarks about yabbying that I described as an outstanding skill of this bloke... and on you went forever as if I'd said that was all he was good for....

Life ain't fair.... so try to be fair to others.

Now - SHOW us who's trashing his memory?  Or is that another thing all in your head, like yabbying smart comments?

The Ahmadis are considered deviant heretical non muslims in Pakistan.

so that means he had to move to australia specifically did it? no safe countries between here and pakistan?

That'll require some thought - I'd say none that were particularly accepting of Muslim Pakis... they've killed Indians ad Banglas and Sris - I doubt the Thais or Viets or Cambos want them.... Malaysia is a bit funny and parochial... Indonesia is mostly a dangerous shot-hole full of sects that hate one another.... NuGinnee the natives eat you if the Karpassus don't shoot you....

I guess it was here or Nu Zulland....

Now we here online - how are we supposed to 'say' his name?  Yell through the computer?  Poor old Karnie is being sensitive for a change - and it hurts apparently.   Huh

OMG - where's Smith and Laugher and mothra?  Swept up in the non-sweep following this non-conspiracy event or something?   Sitting in a cold cell at Gondwanamo waiting to find out why they are there?  What do those faceless security people have on them this time?

And yet, Faraz Tahir did this. Can you say his name?

Easy - Faraz Tahir.... far as I know it's either tahir or tathere...

Just so. And you'd like him to rest in peace, am I right?

Why would you even ask me that?  Haven't you kept up at all over the years?  Are you another mothra - so dense you couldn't tell the difference between some kind of racial hatred and a reasonable position ... just another fanatic let loose in public and blind in both eyes to anything outside your own head and only seeing what you want to see?

Nah. F_uck slimy Karnal the filthy sex-tourist of Thailand and his Mattyfisking sarcasms of pissing in your pocket one moment, to having his hand in your pocket going for a reach around.
Just because one of the victims was a very 'GAY' Pakistani having his first day on the job. He was probably a covert Paki Terrorist himself. All Moslems are TERRORISTS.
It's a 'Group Mentality' - one in, all in. They're ALL terrorists.

Well maybe there will be riots, maybe not.

The reason the Cronulla Riots whipped up 10,000 to belt any bloke who looked like an Arab-Moslem, was because it had nothing to do with 'Christianity' - it was something 'new' to Moslems: bashing a Surf-lifesaver on a beach by Moslems was worse than attacking Christians.

The Cronulla Riots presented a 'new' attack against Moslems. They were so confused and lost against this 10,000 Cronulla onslaught - they started attacking Christian Churches (Vandalism, bullet holes) as it was basically all that they 'knew' really to justify everything in their Moslem existence and right to commit violence.

...getting their arses kicked by a 'culture' of people who prioritised the 'Ocean' way of life over any 'Religion', kinda scared and shook them up a bit.
Even the Police and Media had to rig up 'fake Riot Leaders' to publicly bring them down as if they now had 'control' on the Riots. The Police and Media couldn't cope with Australians going 'free-for-all' beyond their Political and Media narrative 'control'.  Grin

Well I doubt he got himself knifed running away. That's enough for me.

Well, he wasn't providing security.
He probably thought the job was to walk around in a uniform.

TWO Pakistani security guards were stabbed, six people killed, another  18 injured.
It took a policewoman and two French guys to confront the bozo.

If he stood up to the knifer, he was providing security. He may not have succeeded but if he was not trying to provide that security and ran away, I dare say he may be alive today. There is no evidence to doubt he acted to put himself in the way. That he didn't succeed in taking him down is not a dishonour to him, just as it's not a dishonour for any of our servicemen that have paid the same price but never succeeded to overcome their foe themselves.

Well said Set.
I doubt he and the other security guard had knife wounds to their backs running away.

but not the first night? Undecided It was his first day shift.
Either way kudos to him.

I agree, Setanta. Faraz came to our country, trained and got a job. A number of posters here say this is a bad thing.

We shouldn't have people come here to fill vacant jobs, they say. They steal jobs from Aussies.

And yet, those who say this are either immigrants themselves, retired, unemployed, on disability pensions or living overseas, taking foreigners' jobs.

Faraz, 30, they won't say his name.

It was his first day on the job.

Faraz, like many others from different parts of the world, are actually brought in for work many don’t want to do. Most prefer to have a job working from home on the computer whilst wearing pyjamas.

Where my husband works, desperately need mechanics… for quite some time, and hubby and a couple others being old school mechanics were under the pump as no one comes forth.
Why?
I’ve seen this sign of an unfilled  job position in my locality for over 6 months now “apprentice mechanic wanted”
Now back to where hubby works… huge place, many vehicles…. so few mechanics….
Then necessarily a couple years of red tape and $25,000 payment for each mechanic to come over from the Phillipines. Now the company has 6 of these imported amazing mechanics. Big sigh of relief. They are excellent workers and show a lot of gratitude for acceptance into this “lucky” country.

Tradies, they get the job done, physically pro-active, keep the wheels of Oz moving. Without which, the country would come to a standstill.

Even the 2 frenchies that faced the knife wielding perp were tradies.
Pro active tradies. Fit, young, strong….and brave. And why not give them permanent residency here in Oz?

‘A great heart’: Sydney’s Ahmadiyya Muslim community mourn Faraz Tahir, killed in Bondi knife attack

The Pakistani citizen – who fled religious persecution to settle in Australia – was working his first day shift as a security guard at Westfield Shopping Centre

Security guard Faraz Tahir has been remembered as a tireless charity volunteer after his death in a mass stabbing at Bondi Junction on Saturday prompted a review of protection for shopping centre security.

“He had a great heart. He was really grateful to be part of this community, to make Australia home,” Adnan Qadir, Tahir’s friend, said.

Tahir’s death while working his first daytime shift at Westfield Bondi Junction has prompted a review of New South Wales’ tight restrictions on equipment available for security guards.

“We’re reviewing the restrictions in place, except in relation to firearms,” NSW premier, Chris Minns, said on Monday.

Tahir, a 30-year-old Pakistani citizen had fled religious persecution in his home country and sought refuge in Australia, first arriving in Brisbane in December 2022 before moving to Sydney last year.

“[Tahir] was really excited that Australia had afforded him religious freedom, and his way of giving back was through a lot of volunteer work,” Qadir said.

Qadir, the president of Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Australia’s youth organisation, said Tahir took every opportunity to volunteer for charities, including taking part in Clean Up Australia Day in March.

He last saw Tahir on Thursday at the Sydney Ahmadiyya community’s Eid celebration, only two days before he was stabbed by 40-year-old Joel Cauchi.

“He was helping people with parking their cars, helping elderly people to make their ways,” he said.

“No matter how hard things were, he was always there to take time out and give back to community.”

A national blood donation drive has been launched by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Australia and the Red Cross “in honour of his sacrifice”, a spokesperson said.

The high commission of Pakistan in Australia on Monday paid tribute to Tahir’s “immense bravery”.

“Mr Tahir was a beloved member of the Pakistani community,” deputy high commissioner, Ayesha Saeed, said. “He was a dedicated individual who lost his life while trying to save others.”

Members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community held a vigil outside Westfield Bondi Junction on Sunday evening to pray and commemorate the innocent lives lost during Cauchi’s rampage. Ashlee Good, Dawn Singleton, Jade Young, Pikria Darchia and Yixuan Cheng have been identified as the other victims.

“When we were thinking about having a vigil, we realised that if it was Faraz … he would like it to be where all Australian communities are, to grieve and mourn for everyone’s loss,” Qadir said.

Tahir worked a series of jobs before getting his security licence, when he began working night shifts at numerous Sydney locations. He was working his first day shift at Bondi Junction shopping centre when he was fatally stabbed.

https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2024/apr/15/bondi-knife-attack-sydney...

Meanwhile an Assyrian Christian Bishop has been stabbed 4 times and another man also stabbed inside a church in Fairfield.

Wonder who would do that?
