"Decolonizing the curriculum including maths"????

These Universities and their woke wanker Lecturers are absolutely insane.

Nationally primary and secondary core subjects - reading, writing and arithmetic are failing to meet standards.

Before long we'll have generations of illiterate and innumerate youth ... along with the lack of respect and discipline is it any wonder we have a national juvenile crime wave at the moment?

There's no such thing as Aboriginal mathematics ... beyond 1, 2 many.

That these academics come up with this nonsense theory is one thing .... but having it indoctrinated/taught at all levels of education is lunacy. Teaching the teachers bullshyte.

Not just at the ANU:

https://education.nsw.gov.au/schooling/parents-and-carers/going-to-school/everyd
ay-maths/primary/resources/five-ways-maths-is-used-in-aboriginal-culture

Five ways maths is used in Aboriginal cultures

The numbers and operations in equations become symbols or characters. These characters then take part in a story. For example, the actions might bring characters together in a story (addition and multiplication) or take them apart (subtraction and division).

Counting in fives

Seasons and weather

For maths purposes, this is called 'Land links'. Land Links means working with plants and natural phenomena, such as rocks, or fauna, to find and solve maths problems, connecting science, art and cultural history with mathematics.

Using symbols and visuals to work with maths

https://www.education.vic.gov.au/school/teachers/teachingresources/discipline/maths/Pages/research_culturalperspective_connection.aspx

David Mowaljarlai clearly states that “Pattern thinking is Aboriginal thinking”. He also continues to state there is “no big boss” and “patterns are about belonging”.

This is a sophisticated way to see the world and demonstrates that Aboriginal knowledge systems are about sustainability and an understanding of why Aboriginal people are the oldest living culture in the world.

https://www.narragunnawali.org.au/mathematics-resource-guide#:~:text=For%20Aboriginal%20and%20Torres%20Strait,physical%20and%20socio%2Dcultural%20environment.

‘In Australia, mathematical systems have been developed over tens of thousands of years to create intricate kinship systems ensuring genetic vigor...Weight systems were based not on numbers, but on patterns of natural objects such as shells…Geometry was used in calculating time according to the angles and position of the sun, moon and stars at different times, governing predictions about seasons and weather…Although in many Australian Indigenous cultures numbers had no names beyond three, large-scale quantifying was still used in records and calculations through patterns and diagrams on rocks, trees, bark and message sticks…Many language groups in New South Wales developed base five number systems. Calculators for this were developed based on one-to-one correspondence, using materials such as honky nuts (like a disposable abacus system), and served to perform calculations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.’

https://science.anu.edu.au/news-events/news/maths-has-no-borders-professor-rowen
a-ball-brings-indigenous-mathematics-anu

“Mathematics is a universal human phenomenon, and students of under-represented and minority groups and colonised peoples are starting to be more critical about accepting unquestioningly the cultural hegemony of mainstream European-based mathematics,” says Professor Rowena Ball from the ANU Mathematical Sciences Institute.

Here, in Australia, we are still in the early stages of the decolonisation journey. There is a curiously persistent trope that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples had only rudimentary mathematical knowledge, despite widespread evidence to the contrary.

Damn!  This 'decolonisation' is going to take a long time and a lot of work.... all that infrastructure... we should start at the houses of government and the houses of learning.... cut to the chase immediately and all else will follow suit...

All those roads and structures and organisations to de-construct (not deconstruct) - it's going to be hell for everyone to find a kangaroo to eat and turn into clothing.... don the roo-skin.... all the buildings and easy food outlets...the mind boggles....

There was once a category called 'the intellectual Nazi' in the Third Reich - they were educated and so forth and had an infinite capacity to justify with mental gymnastics and distorted self-justifications ANYTHING that 'served the Reich'..... that is what lead to the experiments in the concentration camps etc... and even to the social divisions and massacres... your Colonel Hans Landa or the SS officer in The Keep - "I have a responsibility that you can never fathom!  You have the German disease - maudlin sympathy without thought or action .... I have no time for your feelings and emotions."

"Don't worry - they ask 'when is he coming for the child choppers?  When will he strike back with - "What do you anticipate these rules for gender practices on minors will enforce?  Their compulsory entry into camps where they will endure chemical and surgical experiments to see if they can be forced to become normal again  ... or simply the ongoing reviews that the Cass report requests?  ...don't all rush to answer...  HE'S COMING!!"

Professor Rowena Ball heads a research team of 2 .. herself and Hong Zhan Xu - a Post-doctoral Fellow.

So her and a side-kick are " Exploring Qualitative Mathematical Modelling and the Mathematics of Traditional and Indigenous Cultures"...

from around the world... so she should already know that other Indigenous Cultures were far more advanced than Australian Aboriginals.

They really did have the ability to build communities with housing(not gunyahs),more advanced hunting tools like bows & arrows, actual cooking & storage tools i.e. pottery and many had ocean going boats - not just tree trunk dugout canoes.

So this shyte she's trying to make applicable to Aboriginals is just a theory that she has loaded up with woke white guilt and privilege in the use of "decolonisation", "bridge the gap", "cultural diversity" by  incorporating non-Western perspectives.

Seeings she's a woke white western woman how's she going to do that?

Talk to your Marcia Langtons, Noel Pearsons, Mick Dodsons, Linda Burneys, Thomas Mayos, Megan Davis', Kangaroo Ken Wyatts ????? I'm sure they could make something up. Grin

or the uneducated animals that have been running amok in Alice Springs? Grin

https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/mother-of-indigenous-teenager-who-died-...

The system failed him - they let him out on bail - he stole a car and killed himself... whartey did it!!

That's what you get when personal sovereignty goes down the toilet....  where dividie goes wrong - one way of - is that he will not comprehend that an individual may disagree with the state due to personal sovereignty - this mother is doing just that, saying the state did it by not leaving the boy at home - and yet letting him out on bail.

Strange all round, but still... if he's on bail why wasn't he home with her???  Anyway - here she can CHOOSE to oppose the government ways - other places not so lucky... free will, innit, even if it makes no sense her personal sovereignty allows her to do this as long as it does no harm.

I put this in here even though this gathering of the true believers was in SA... it's a national issue.... so more appropriate for the Gaga Strip.

OH???  I merely raise these issues for discussion most of the time - the paranoid fantasy lies with the Kangas and mothras of this world.... those suffering the inability to discuss rationally .... but then mothra thought Lefty was sane.... delusional ....

More Apartheid.  'culturally safe' - from what?  The White Man's Invasive Hospitals? Nah - it's so they don't have to mingle with other people and have to accept the same treatment... or, even worse, the idea is to keep them separate so they don't cause the trouble....

This'll get Skanka's blood pressure up in the sky:-

https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/other/plibersek-s-gold-mine-advisor-tried-registe...

"Sky News host Caleb Bond says the historian who Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek took advice from had tried registering every river and creek in the Shire as an Indigenous site.

“The historian who helped convince Tanya Plibersek … $1 billion gold mine – would destroy Indigenous heritage had earlier tried to register every river, creek, lake and swamp in the Shire as an Aboriginal site,” Mr Bond said.

“This is the woman whose word Tanya Plibersek took over the local Indigenous people, over the EPA of New South Wales, over the Premier of New South Wales, over her own Indigenous advisors in her own department.”

Let's hear it from the monkeys - the veiled and non-directed comment of 'Sky News'!!  Well - news is news  ... refute the news... not the source... but that's too hard for you luvvies.
