Pffffft, A prescription.
Where's the fun in that?
very true.
The illegality of pot adds to its appeal
But if we legalize pot and it's (recorded) usage goes up, then you'll be saying that the increased use of crack is "because it's still illegal."
I think pot should be legal, obviously. But I also think crack cocaine should be legal. You can run the gamut of "bad" drugs and I will stop only at rape drugs. Nobody takes anaesthics ... well maybe someone ... but I don't mind infringing their rights if the drug is most usually used to render other people unconscious.
My strongest argument for legalizing all drugs, is that the pharmaceutical companies will provide even better drugs. We can have animal testing, volunteer testing, legally culpable public testing ... of a cornucopia of new drugs. Forever, making all users aware of the upsides and downsides of each drug. Testing in the only way that matters: with consequences, with choice. With alternatives.
I personally am a victim of alcohol, of nicotine, and of lithium. It's just bum-ass sad compared to the highs I experienced when I didn't care about the law. I'm not wrong. The law is wrong.
