Do a very small washing today, finish drying in front of the fire.

I have like 10 lavender plants in pots, will try to strike cuttings and double or treble that number. Once all the rubbish from the renovations and garden supplies are gone I will clean up the grass around the paths etc leading to the front door and make a mass planting of lavender there—should repel flies from the front door.

Once the back door is relocated following work on relocating the bathroom I will mass plant lavender there too. Then with a spray can of essential oil of lavender I should be free of flies in summer.

Is it raining fairly constant in the southern states, yet?

Darned cold week in Queensland this week

Hoo-yah!  I recall I predicted a cold winter ........ it was -6 near Toowoomba last night.... freeze the balls of a naked Deuce that would...  snow in three states... icy winds...

(a 'ding' when I was a teenager was a chip out of a good surfboard... buggar - got a ding on that rock.... buggar... have to patch that or the water will get into the foam and things happen ... winter surfing in board shorts with blue-white frozen hands and feet.. what's with the body suits, you wimps!)....

Been lovely weather here for a few days, 16°C max, got to 17°C today and all my stupid trees think it is spring!

So will make up a small spray bottle tomorrow:

Spray all the bastard trees mistaking two days of sunshine as spring. Probably add some ecofungicide.

Have mycorrhizae fungi inoculant in the fridge. Need to introduce that to the root zone of my established trees—with a garden fork create holes in the soil leading to where the roots of my trees are/will soon be, suspend some of the inoculant in water, get that down the holes created with the garden fork. Will also add some to the above spray.

Busy hoeing up the weeds and grass from around my trees, when spring arrives sheep manure and compost will be spread around my trees and lightly worked into the soil. Sheep manure is great—is not just a buttload of nitrogen. To boost potassium levels tiny amounts of pot. sulphate will be added—this is very acid, don’t just dump half a packed by your tree or whatever, likely will kill it from acidity, will kill earthworms for sure!
