My personal opinion of people who have wind chimes
May 21st, 2024 at 11:47pm

You hate me don’t you?

The only reason you hang these pain makers around is too torture your neighbour!

You likely drive a 4wd too but never ever off the tar.

A pox on you and your noisey wind chimes!

Your not Buddhist, your just inconsiderate!

They mostly don't bother me a lot. Sometimes I rather like the sound and sometimes not so much. The small ones don't bother me at all.

The really big chimes that clunk more than chime are pretty gruesome.

It's equally divided between the church tower bells and fire engine / ambulance sirens in light traffic.  Clunky wind chime noise doesn't go far but the enthusiasts pulling the bells at night can reach deep into your inner peace.

'The weekend of 3rd to 5th November 2023 was set aside for the 27th anniversary weekend ringing at Armidale. We were pleased to welcome eight visitors from Sydney (4), Newcastle, Coffs Harbour and the Gold Coast (2).
Due to a baptism service being held in the Cathedral, Saturday morning's ringing was on silenced bells until lunch time. After lunch, open ringing ran until 4pm, by which time everyone was exhausted.  Service ringing on Sunday was followed by morning tea and coffee, before a successful quarter peal of Grandsire Doubles rounded out the weekend.'

The bells are directly opposite the Catholic clergy's homes. People have to TALK LOUDLY to them.

@ OP,

Daves2017,

Sorry to tell you this......
but if you have a particular dislike for the sound of bells and windchimes,
you are probably 'infected' with, and 'housing', demons.

In ISLAM bells are haram [forbidden].

I wonder why ?

WWW search.......
bells satanic and haram islam

Of course, you don't have to believe any of this.       Grin

You don't know whether your neighbour drives a 4WD?

I read a book once set in scandinavia where wind chimes were used to signal that the resident was a swinger.

If your neighbors wind chimes can be heard at a level to annoy you then you live too close/in an intense housing area.

I have 3 hanging in the front area of my house and we hardly hear them unless it's blowing a gale.

You must be a tnuc of a neighbour?

And I have 2 Nissan 4WD utes and a Honda CRV.

If I could afford it I'd have a V8 LANDCRUISER wagon & a caravan. Grin

Grin Yet their Imams get up in the minarets or over loud PA systems caterwauling out the call to prayers all over the neighborhood & they don't give a stuff who that annoys.

Wouldn't want to be a shift worker.

Any kind of music with instruments is forbidden in Islam. Only vocals are allowed. Bells are a musical instrument, so are banned. That's why Cat Stevens has permitted himself to release new albums. They sound like a bad poetry recital. I heard one once where he goes through the alphabet saying A is for..., B is for... etc. All about how wonderful Allah is.

I actually prefer the sound of the large wind chimes with the lower frequency noise.

No  no! We'll have 4wd with monster wind chimes clanging and donging and bull-horn speakers to add impact.

I could see how if hung up as a wind chime people would be annoyed.
