I don't believe the number killed which was released by Hamas. We have heard fake numbers before. Remember the al-Ahli Arab Hospital "bombing" which supposedly killed hundreds of women and children? Well, first it wasn't an IDF missile, but a misfired Islamic Jihad missile and days and weeks after the incident the numbers came down substantially.

As for this rescue, good. Citizenship has meaning in Israel. The state and military are doing exactly what should be done when it comes to liberating its citizens. The most important and sacred task of any nation is the defence of its own people.

I'm sure some civilians died. I don't believe the 200+ number from Hamas. How did they get that number so soon after the raid? Plucked it out of thin air just like they plucked the al-Ahli Arab Hospital number out of thin air.

Did these civilians not know these hostages were being held in their buildings? I reckon they did. This makes them accomplices and therefore they are legitimate collateral damage caught up in a gun fight.

Here is an idea: if Hamas or the civilians where the hostages are being held don't like these kinds of raids happening, release the hostages. Pretty simple.

"Israel estimated there were fewer than 100 casualties, IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said."

One dead innocent civilian is one too many.

Those hostages would have been under Hamas guard. They would have been moved in and out.

As for where they could have gone, they could have gone to the Al Mawasi tent city for all I care.

Hamas can release the hostages which will make raids like this unnecessary.

I live in an apartment and I don't think I would not notice suspicious stuff happening. Hamas fighters coming in and out, hostages coming in and out. The guarding of specific buildings, specific apartments within.

The Israelis knew exactly where they were, down to the specific apartments. You're saying the occupants of those buildings didn't know?

They were living inside untouched apartment buildings. Not all buildings have been destroyed in Gaza.

How is it the Israelis knew which specific buildings and specific apartments each of the hostages were in, yet the people living in them had no idea? I don't believe it.
