What’s more, expectations have been lowered to such a level that Mr. Biden may need only to stay alive, or at least awake, for the whole 90-minute broadcast to exceed them.  Shocked Wink

The rules may have been designed to further cushion Mr. Biden, but these could backfire. Silencing the microphones when the other candidate is speaking presumably won’t deter Mr. Trump from continuing to speak over Mr. Biden during his answers. We the audience won’t hear his needling, but Mr. Biden may feel the urge to reply. In responding to something the audience can’t hear, the president may only look even more confused.

Above all, the debate can provide an opportunity for Mr. Trump to do the two things that will earn him victory in November: stay sane, and stick to Mr. Biden’s record in office, contrasted with his own. If Mr. Trump can resist the temptation to make the entire event about his wounded ego, he has a golden opportunity.

The Wall St Journal

Contrasted with his own?

Oh, ja. Say that, sir. Remind us all of those four fun years of race riots, bleach injections and White House covid outbreaks. Tell us about all those RINO staffers and cabinet members who blabbed about you being totally unfit for office.

DEEP STATE !!!

You are grimacing, paki. You are trying to make irony out of exactly what happened, and you know it. You are not stupid, you are just supremely dishonest. Gweggy is both stupid and dishonest.

Trump was against the 'swamp' which included Jeb the Third as a candidate. Against Clinton the Second.

Dynastic rivalries in a republic that fought to have no hereditary rulers.  So the swamp blabber,  gossipped, intrigued, nobbled and hindered.

I dont want to draw too long a bow but there are some perceptible parralels with Whitlam as far as a political novice  breaking into power being frustrated and nobbled at every turn.

Just imagine the transformation if the public service, universities and the media had been as supportive of Trump as they are of Biden.

You can't imagine it.  THAT is the swamp.

That's right, dear boy. I really can't imagine it.

Imagine public services like the weather bureau and disaster recovery requiring their briefings transformed using a Sharpie texta. Imagine the media requiring briefings that your DL's inauguration crowd sizes were triple - quadruple - their actual number. Imagine public officials like secretaries of state being told to transform their vote counts. But do you know?

This doesn't even touch the sides. Your DL's administration was the most inept in modern history. Many US agencies had no directors for their first year. Trump appointees to senior government positions included truck drivers and sales assistants with no experience whatsoever. When they were finally appointed, a number were fired for lying on their security clearances, lying to congress or not declaring their status as foreign agents. When Investigators General reported adverse findings, they were fired.

Australia had no US ambassador for nearly two years.

And if they lasted in their jobs, many never turned up for work or bothered to find out what their new workplaces did. Agencies like the Dept Energy and Agriculture spent weeks waiting for their new bosses to turn up to be briefed - a first. During the Bush and Obama administrations, they were briefed and ready to go during the transition.

The head of the big fella's transition team, Chris Christie, was fired almost immediately. Prior to that, the big fella said he didn't even want a team (a legal requirement).

It can't have been easy for career public employees to support such a "transformation". The media merely reported the facts. The universities? I'm not sure what they said, but it can't have been good. The "transformation" in agencies like the Dept Energy included firing those who'd written reports on global warming and banning the use of the term "climate change".

Trump appointees were tasked with one job only, to undo every policy implemented by Obama, without even knowing what these policies were. The Iran nuclear deal, for example, was drafted by nuclear scientists. Their work was overturned, allowing Iran to restart its nuclear weapons program. Trump himself didn't even know what the deal involved, tweeting about pallets of cash to describe private Iranian citizens' unfrozen US bank accounts.

There could be no such transformation in such an environment, only incompetence, graft and corruption. Jared Kushner, who fired Chris Christie, was given $20 billion in Saudi sovereign wealth funds to invest three months after leaving office, despite Saudi financial advisors' protests. Nothing like this has ever been seen before - or since.

There is no possible way your DL can transform government for the better. Why? We know. We've seen his work with our own eyes. He doesn't even know what it does.

The US federal government is one of the biggest and most important organisations in the world. It regulates everything from patents and satellites to safety standards for food, drugs and nuclear weapons. Sleepy Joe has only just put things right. Placing it in the hands of your DL is one of the biggest threats to global security we now face.

Ever get the feeling?

You can laugh at Trump on a lot of topics. If only being a talented clown could make him an average President.

Yes he can be funny unfortunately he is recognised as the worst President in several hundred years and would be a certainty to do it again given the opportunity, maybe even exceed his previous failure.

True, but Aquascoot will tell you he thinks it's a smart move. The big fella would do best to retire to the golf course and spend some time banging his hot babe wife Melania (who currently has him in the dog house).

One must demolish the Deep State in order to rebuild, you see. The security of Eastern Europe should be left in the capable hands of the "noble Alpha" Vlad. The microchip industry should be left to have Chinese malware installed for all. The financial system should be left to create another global financial crisis. And the nuclear weapons industry should be allowed to let nuclear bombs fall out of the sky.

Only the last two things have so far occurred, the latter involving a US transport plane carrying an H bomb over rural Pennsylvania in the late 1960s.

The former required a good three tril worth of US government bailouts. The latter required a regulated inbuilt safety system that saved the entire US mainland from being uninhabitable for the next 13 billion years.

All of these things require safeguards with regulators tasked with administering them. Far from being a "noble Alpha" risk taker, governments are tasked with managing and mitigating risk.

If the big fella had responded to his early covid briefings, at least four million American lives would have been saved.

Despite having this news before anybody else, the big fella saw the highest death toll in the world. Countries like Australia with responsible governments acted smart and saved lives. The big fella said he "liked" to talk covid down, but do you know?

More pandemics are predicted, environmental disasters are on the rise. How can anybody trust the guy who said he liked to lie about covid and who's sole directive to the US nuclear regulator, the Department of Energy, was to ban their use of the term "climate change"?

What will be his excuse for dropping out of the debate?

"It's rigged"

"Fake media"

"Joe didn't take a drug test"

"Witch hunt!"

In a terse statement issued on Thursday (Friday AEST) a few hours before the 9pm (11am AEST) debate was due to start, the president of the White House Correspondents Association slammed CNN for refusing to let even one non-CNN journalist watch the entire debate from inside the room.

Maybe Biden is on drugs ?   -
Hunter has his crack pipe and some crack ready for Joe to smoke -
that will help him in the debate.

As long as you are long on imagination, and short on facts, you have  a point. Trump was the most useless, inept leader in the US's history.

Watching the debate on CNN today ... It is so sad that Biden is such a doddery old decrepit git!

He should be wiping the floor with that appalling Trump.

How sad that the US has these two old farts to choose between.  Sad

Yes, it was an absolute disaster for Biden.

However, everything Trump said was a lie and/or projection.

No winners in this debate, that's for sure.

But yeah, the Dems should switch to Harris before it's too late.

He wasn't there - that was obviously an AI representation.

The debate demonstrated why Genocide Joe Biden, one of the youngest politicians elected to the Senate, was in the shadows for most of his political life.

He is weak. He has no vision. He is manipulated by others and has no integrity.

The other guy is a rapist, insurrectionist, and convicted felon.

As far as optics go, Joe was terrible in the debate today but he's still the best choice for America in this two horse race.

He's certainly not the best the Dems can offer though.
