draconian = = (of laws) excessively harsh and severe.

I disagree bobby!   ......strongly.

What are you thinking bobby !!!         Tongue

We do not need to   >> empower <<   an authoritarian government, which would introduce draconian laws.

That, is what ISLAM is, with Sharia law.

That, is what the Stalinist regime introduced - closed state courts [courts which are not open to scrutiny, by all citizens].

Such draconian laws would trample upon our peaceable rights, and governments would be able to kill us, and to murder us.

China
Russia
North Korea
Iran
Saudi Arabia

bobby,

All we need is a justice system where the choices of criminals,
would always have 2x or 3x the consequence for the individual criminal.

bobby,
Appropriate Justice, it isn't rocket science.

IMO, it is a lovely thing, a lovely thing.

Deuteronomy 25:1
If there be a controversy between men, and they come unto judgment, that the judges may judge them; then they shall justify the righteous, and condemn the wicked.

Why not ?
.......'condemn the wicked', AND if they are convicted, give them a consequential sentence ?

e.g.
IT IS NOT MURDER, IF SELF DEFENCE ON YOUR OWN PROPERTY

Exodus 22:2
If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.

Exodus 21:12
He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.
13  And if a man lie not in wait, but God deliver him into his hand; then I will appoint thee a place whither he shall flee.
14  But if a man come presumptuously upon his neighbour, to slay him with guile; thou shalt take him from mine altar, that he may die.

Q.
What is wrong, with a 'consequential justice', such as suggested above ?

Appropriate justice, is an absolutely lovely thing.

.

Proverbs 29:2
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

Proverbs 28:4
They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.

Proverbs 28:5
Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.

LOVE GOD, love His righteousness.

Enjoy the presence of God's peace, in your heart.

It isn't rocket science.

Stop being a soft cock -

if that was your mother being pushed into the water off a pier -
you'd want justice too.

Walking away Scot free is not justice.

This morning in bed, i woke up, and i switched on the bedside radio.......
in time to catch the top of the hour ABC radio news.

And listening, it seemed to me, that every instance of a local [Australian] news report,
was a report of an individual visiting some form of violence upon someone else !

I kid you not !

It makes one ponder,   ...What is the cause of all of this LAWLESSNESS ?

Ah, well there is a full moon.
......perhaps we can blame celestial events as the cause of all of this violent LAWLESSNESS being reported in Australia ?
/sarc off

QUESTION;
Why is such violent LAWLESSNESS in Australia seem so prevalent today ?

prevalent = = widespread in a particular area at a particular time.

And then, i go to the ABC online news site
https://www.abc.net.au/news         .....to find those stories,
and all there is there, is this pap........

pap = = bland soft or semi-liquid food such as that suitable for babies or invalids.

Pap, pap, pap......

THIS IS ON THE ABC, 'JUST IN' NEWS TODAY.........

Pap, pap, pap.....AT THE ABC NEWS SITE.

QUESTION;
Why is it, that no one trusts MAINSTREAM news sources today ?

You don't believe me ????
-------- >
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-06-23/settling-the-debate-over-who-invented-the...

And how many 'pages of screen' does the ABC News site dedicate to a pavlova story ?

I counted   >> 37 pages <<   of screens [on my PC].

And all Australian taxpayers are paying for this PAP news site.

p.s.
I was unable to find ANY of the stories, that i had just heard, on my ABC Radio news.

Perhaps i just imagined them all ?

Is the ABC AI hiding provocative stories from 'people like myself' ?

WHAT A COMPLETELY CRAP COUNTRY AUSTRALIA HAS BECOME.

The ABC is the propaganda arm of whichever Govt. is in power.

Govts. want to tell us that all is well under their leadership.

I think you must be correct bobby............

e.g.
I just did a search at the ABC News site for the word CRIME,
and for the word CRIMINAL.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/search?query=crime

https://www.abc.net.au/news/search?query=criminal

The ABC News site algorithm cannot find a single hit
ANYWHERE, ON ITS WHOLE SITE,
for the word 'CRIME', or, for the word 'CRIMINAL'.

And   >> YOU <<   are paying for this national, Australian 'News site',
with your tax dollars.

No, not correct.

That search still returns an error for me.

WWW sites can do that now/'today'.

The WWW site, can 'return' an individualised response, to a search,
from any individual, who does a search online.

Yadda = = Persona non-grata, at 'YOUR ABC'.

persona non grata = = an unacceptable or unwelcome person.
