Now, when I look at traffic around me… it’s basically grey or white. My current car is boring white. My first car was metal flake silver (1968 Holden HR)

I've always hated automatics with a passion for some reason.

Blue but not real blue blue called Ray Blue. ( It seems to pick up reflected colour so looks different).

Had a green car (more teal) - everyone wanted to run into it. Don't do it. Any car with colours used in camouflage will find situations where other motorists do not see them. In my case a Green car driving in front of green trees, green grass and green bushes / trees will often not be seen. I got to the point where I expected people to pull out on me. I once predicted to my passenger that the car at the next intersection was going to pull out. He couldn't believe I knew.

Had a red car - stopped by police more often than every other car combined including a silver 327 Monaro. The police really do believe that red cars go faster. I was booked a few times for speeds that I wasn't doing. They just thought that I must have been going that fast because it was red.

My Torana is a 308 5sp manual thought about putting Tremec 6 speed out of Commodore into it didn't want to modify tranny tunnel to make it fit.

My Lancer VRX is CVT auto with paddle shift 6 speed. Leave it in auto mode for traffic and use gears on open road.
Modern autos with paddle shift are pretty good you get the best of both worlds.

Williams Formula 1 team tried a CVT auto it can keep engine in rpm range for peak power the downside is it used more fuel keeping engine at max power rpm so they gave it away.
Fuel tank size is limited in F1.

Ferrari invented paddle shift first used in Hungarian Grand Prix 1989 with Nigel Mansell.
Formula 1 haven't had a gear lever for nearly 35 years.

Drag racers use autos you can run torque converters so they don't hook up till 4500-5000 rpm which makes them more consistant off the line. Clutches can't handle that abuse.

I dislike older 3 and 4 speed autos.

I drove Manual most of my life. Went to Auto the last car. Driving 200K a day for work with bad knees did it for me.
