Gardening
Jul 8th, 2024 at 12:35pm

Gardening is a terrific hobby for my well-being.
Just spent a few hours with my hands in dirt  Smiley
Started up 4 new wicking buckets.
Beans, zucchinis, cucumbers, eggplants.

we have not bought a tomato for a while, the new seedlings pop up all over the yard from the compost tumblers

Too wet to do anything now—have a last half packet of broadbean seeds to plant.

Then get ready for a massive tomato planting. Buying a bigger—52" by 25" heating pad. Have a ton of egg cartons and a big bag of seed raising mix to get the seeds started.

Guess where I dump that saline soil I was talking about on another forum? Into the 5 x 7 metre garden I have in the backyard. Don't worry, nothing was growing in it. I was dumping my lawn clippings into the garden anyway, so it was not going to get much more saline.

Dad is going to let me borrow his digger, sometime before spring. I am going to have to do a dig of the garden. Then I will have to put the top 10cm of soil into a wheel barrow and dump that somewhere out the front footpath so that the rain will wash away the saline soil -- given that the front yard is sloping northwestward.

The garden can then have salt tolerant plants in them, with my large bag of potting mix to help the initial growth of the seedling. I was thinking of planting a Golden Wreath Wattle.

Caused by USR's schizophrenic episode. Read the label on certain Epsom Salts packaging. It clearly states that you can use the product on gardening soils. Live and learn, USR. Live and learn.

Epson salts is magnesium sulphate, not sodium chloride. Still worth flushing out but not all that harmful.

Whatever the case, this lawn care and garden should be resolved before summer arrives.
