Mass likely showing an even bigger decrease.

You have to laugh, the above reminded me of Dubyne. One year he claimed the Arctic was accumulating ice, it was getting VERY thick.

The next year a cruise ship sailed through the NW passage.

For the polar bears—nothing mentioned about the thick multi year ice off the Canadian Arctic Archipelago getting blown away from the coast so a reprieve for the white bears.

Lot of talk of warm waters coming into the Arctic, heat accumulating under the ice etc—how a year ends depends a lot on winds—if they drive export out the Fram Strait etc or not.
