Must admit—interest in Olympics = zero.

All the money going to elite professional athletes.

What about community sports, keep more people active etc? Stuff all money for that, sucked into Olympics, Commonwealth Games and crap like that.

It’s going to be with us so it doesn’t  matter if we watch it or not.
My son just rang and said the ceremony seems a bit grey weather …
He says it’s like a third world country with all the muggings and rape etc
I said yeah and sabotaging the train network.

Anyway… I look at countries and see Bangladesh… so I asked is that India… thinking it has such a huge population yet very few athletes… then I found out why….

Same.

In fact, about as much interest as JD Vance's popularity rating: minus 6.

Having said that, I might check out the highlights from the opening ceremony on YouTube later on today.

But that's it.

Oh, and here's a question: why does everyone in the media call it the River Seine?

Why not the Seine River?   Undecided

We don't say the River Murray, or the River Swan?

Weird.

Aahh that brings back a lesson of French/Italian wording my dad was telling me….
Eg: light pole in English is palo della luce (pole of the light)
It’s reverse … same with Rivière de Siene

Oh!   We are in Paris a week after Paralympic’s end! We will see all evidence of Olympics and symbols and souvenirs and no wonder so many places in London were booked out!
And premium prices too!
5 nights $1800

Hmm, okay.  I might have to reconsider that.

I just heard that Celine Dion is involved.

Oh, you no like Celine? She was on at very beginning of opening ceremony… she sang good, I was surprised to see her as I thought she had problems with her voice/throat?
Anyway… lady Gaga was boring… so just wizz past these and get to the better stuff.

My daughter is texting… wow all these small countries… never heard of them…. So I look them up too as I’ve not heard of many of them either.
Educational it is.
Gosh the rain in set on them all!
Isn’t it supposed to be mid summer there?

Oh, I like Gaga - didn't know she was part of it.

And yes, didn't want to see Celine as I know she's not well and her voice is suffering, so I thought it might be cringeworthy.

I'll take a look around and see if there's a "best of" video on YouTube.

I’m happy to say Celine sang beautiful in French.
First time back in stage in 4 years I heard.
