I will consider that a threat. And I will consider that you have the obligation of apologising.

Price gouging.
They were selling lamb for top prices last year and
the farmers were only getting one dollar for a whole sheep.

Cost of beef at Coles today - 25th July 2024 -
a new record price for Eye Fillet beef $72.73 per kilo.
Beef rump is $26.09 per kilo.
I bought the piece of rump - it will make a nice mild curry.   Smiley

For the record... I have no vested in interest in high prices to lamb. Our menu at the restaurant does a selection of lamb items. However, our supervisor and our franchisee have both expressed that we only buy lamb items when the prices of the lamb is low. However, $1 for a whole lamb is way too cheap for our franchise. It is an insult to our local primary industry to buy a sheep meat for that little.

I paid $21.99 per Kg for eye fillet just over a week ago at Harris Farm Markets.

Gordon posted their special on Rump they had Tassal smoked salmon $3.99 100 grams it's usually $10-11 for exact same thing at Coles and Woolies.

If you don't like the prices at Coles don't buy it there.

So don't eat meat.

Better for absolutely everyone and everything all round.

True! If only people ate less meat… rather it’s going the opposite direction.
And the Amazon is destroyed more and more for cows and so forth.

I confess I don’t mind a bbq once a year… and I hardly buy red meat otherwise. Maybe once every 3-4 months. And not just any crap the big supermarkets put on their refrigerated shelves to sell…
How many actually look at where the meat comes from… is it grass fed etc?
Cape Grim is a good place to start looking.
Also I pay premium for free range anything.
I can’t believe that caged chook eggs are still allowable … it’s been known for yonks how bad it is for those caged chooks to produce caged eggs. Yes I heard in a few years it’s being phased out. Too slow.
Even free range only have 1 metre of space around them, at least it’s not as cruel as being caged.

If anyone has Netflix…. Watch “You are what you eat”
It’s 4 episodes, with an experiment with a number of identical twins.
One has to go vegetarian, the other has to go on a meat diet.

The results in many ways, are astounding!

I avoid grain fed beef it's marbled with fat grazing beef is much leaner. That said the Japanese like grain fed for this reason with export beef.

I only buy free range chicken it tastes much better.

Hormone and antibiotic free is something else i look for.

Gordon says it was $19.99 a Kg for eye fillet at Harris Farm a couple of days after i bought over 4kg.

I don't support shops that rip people off i support those who give good prices.

I mean, without even doing any research, you would know that farmers would not sell their sheep for $1. Then, Bobby had the cheek to post up a link to an article that I could not read all of, because I would have to subscribe. So, I asked him to post up the full article. He has chickened out.

I couldn't get back into that article either but I found it on web archive and posted
it all and the link too - again:

Bobby. wrote on Jul 25th, 2024 at 12:47pm:
Good - the article was saved in the web archive site:

http://web.archive.org/web/20231028133334/https://www.afr.com/companies/agricult...

Sheep prices plunge to $1 a head as farmers flood market

I also found another website which backed up the story: here again:

Bobby. wrote on Jul 25th, 2024 at 12:30pm:
This seems to be a copy of the afr article:

https://www.vikingfoodsolutions.com.au/industry-update/flock-fallout-plummeting-...

The impact is acutely felt by Western Australian producers,
grappling with prices dropping to as low as $1 or $2 per head.

You still didn't apologise to me for calling me a liar.    Roll Eyes

Monk,
you are teaching other posters here not to apologise when they are caught out calling me a liar.
You do it all the time you ASPD affected mental case.

Bobby, I am now convinced that you have antisocial personality disorder.

I said that what you wrote was not true. Here is why:

What is the price of live sheep per kilogram/pound in Australia today?
Quote:
The retail price range in Australian Dollar for live sheep is between AUD 5.90 and AUD 8.85 per kilogram or between AUD 2.68 and AUD 4.02 per pound(lb) in Canberra and Melbourne.
