Representing Team USA boxing, Lozano recently announced that she tested positive two days before the fight. Her symptoms worsened, and she eventually lost to Finland's Pihla Kaivo-oja via unanimous decision in the Round of 16.

"Two days before the fight I tested positive for COVID," Lozano said in a statement to fans on social media. "I’m thankful to the medical personnel for taking such good care of me during that time.

"We thought that by fight night I’d be doing better, but symptoms only got worse, and my temperature kept rising before and during the fight. There are no excuses, and I will continue going forward."
