Thomas A. Edison said as early as in 1931, “I’d put my money on the sun and solar energy. What a source of power! I hope we don’t have to wait until oil and coal run out before we tackle that.”

But... but... but... forget about the homeless... just think of the $1,000 power bill credit for everyone, 50 cent public transport fares for 6 months and a 'freeze' on government charges (except car registrations which have been reduced by 20% for 12 months).

"Giggles" is no doubt laughing his head off thinking about all the gullible people who now think he's wonderful and will be falling over themselves to vote for him in the State election in October.

The $1000 free electric has been a huge boost to the overseas owned businesss who provide our ( coursty Labor) privatise electricity.

The Chinese billionaires have been quite concerned Australians ability to service there debts.

They are delighted to see the Labor government step in and ensure that they will be paid promptly.

The alternative is the absence of electricity. Is that a banana republic?

What will the Labs do about the homeless when the Olympics come to Brisbane? Oh yeah, they probably won't be in office then and the Libs will have to clean up their mess, yet again. Kinda a common theme going there, isn't it? Labs make a mess, Libs have to clean it up.

The alternative was what was already in place.

State owned electricity providers retuning the profit back to Australia citizens rather than over seas shareholders as happening now under the failed Labor privatisation model.

I somewhat suspect once giggles is kicked out not only will he stop laughing but the truth of the Qld budget will be laid out and , shivers, the cost fallout from Labor mismanagement made clear .

It's quite possible and may be in Queenslanders best interest that the Olympics are abandoned as was the Victoria Commonwealth Games.

Thats a bit harsh on QLD.  There is more practical reason: homeless tend to gravitate to warmer states, just like Hawaii.

You see, if you are a homeless, in the middle of winter in Tasmania or Victoria... you die!

Where as in Townsville, its 30 degree all year round!

The old hands travel north in the winter and south in cyclone season.

This is a new phenomenon.

These are essentially people who have never been homeless before and are homeless now because they can no longer afford the massive increase in rent on-top of cost of living pressure.

The tent cities growing in Brisbane is exactly like that of third world countries slums.

We are a rich country, Where has all the money gone?

Not surprised thats where the majority of the homeless end up. It's much more comfortable for them than sleeping on the streets of Melbourne or Adelaide in winter

I have slept like a homeless person in my life. Mind you, I was inebriated and passed out on the Neville-Hewitt bridge after a New Year's party. But, I got the idea of what it was like.
