It is an old pun that I have been using since I was 9 years old.

Just yesterday, I bought a boomerang. I plan on using it for the spring holidays. With the use of "Okay Boomer", I figure that I could play a game of "Boomerang" with you. When you want to catch the boomerang I throw to you, you say "Ready!". When I am about to throw the boomerang, I will warn you "Okay, Boomer!" and then it is up to you to catch the meaning...
