Someone said we could not judge a person's Aboriginality on their skin colour.  Why isn't that applied in the matter of Pascoe?  Tsk, tsk, tsk...   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

It might seem disrespectful, but every time I see Phil Donohue, I am reminded of this above scene.

Gay marriage debate in the USA - 1991.

AIDS - 1986.

88 years old?   Shocked

Wow, time really flies.

I watched a couple of his shows back in the day, but not that many.

Good innings.

I absolutely loved his talk shows. I gained a lot of wisdom and understanding from his shows.
I was a young full time mum at home with young kids, so it was my “me time” and relief watching daytime TV Phil Donahue show in the 80s.
Fast forward as a result, when we heard on news tonight, my daughter (visiting) said his name like she knew of him. I said to her “you remembered him from when I used to watch his show?” And she nodded affirmatively.
I said to her, Donahue had better shows than trashy the Gerry Springer show that followed after.
I mean whoa… I’d never seen so many people air their dirty laundry on tv!
But I did come to understand we in Aussie land kept stuff to ourselves and didn’t really discuss problems much. Americans were more open and most won’t leave their homes until talking to their psychologists  Grin
I recall when a young adult back then, wishing people around me spoke more of life and problem solving.
It’s better nowadays… people are more open about life’s issues.

I used to take notes from Donahue talk show, and I find those notes occasionally and read it now and think… it’s still good to this day!
