Just out of curiosity, have you defined what "rape" consists of for ach of the countries your contrasting?

Being formerly accused of rape, I can definitely answer that. In Australia, rape is defined as non-consensual sex.

In the Middle East, rape is defined as sex outside of marriage... but only if 4 men of good reputation watch from start to finish the rape being perpetrated, and agree that the person was being raped.

In sub-Saharan Africa, once upon a time, rape was how AIDS victims thought they cured themselves of AIDS.

In the USA, rape is looking at a stuck up irascible woman.

In Japan, rape is having sex with someone under the age of 13 years.

The only part of my post that would not be true today would be the part about the Middle East. Most countries over there have taken steps to modernise their legal process. Although you still read stories about women getting drink spiked in Dubai and being raped. One Australian lady made a police report about her rape. The police forced her to sign a confession that SHE broke the law.

Australia's response was to boycott products from Dubai. We cut our driving habits for the time that the victim was in prison. Oil prices dropped slightly. Dubai got the message.
