Aug 24th, 2024 at 9:56pm

The leader of the Labor Party lost her seat on the same night her government was absolutely hammered in the election and was voted out!!!

QLD is going to be next for Labor to be thrown out by fed up voters, then it’s going to be the incompetent Labor mob in Canberra told to bugger off by voters! 😁

I told yez all so....... long ago... and many times since.  Labor will be wiped out at the next set of elections... Ol' Grapplerdamus is rarely wrong... if ever....  thought I'd made a mistake once, but I was in error....

Now we need only fear for their opposite part of the government by two parties in lockstep... The Tag Team... Labor up there has reduced any sane people to blithering wrecks with their management of crime and justice and such - and their immense fracking up of the aquifers while kow-towing to the Aborigines like gods (proxy poisoned their waterholes - killed off the aquifer spirits) ... now where with the even generally worse Libs?

Only one up there with any sense or guts is Jacinta Price... and she's Federal.  It's the hot sun, the water, and the booze up there... I tells yez....

Wow, labor got written off

.......... Labor has suffered a devastating defeat at the NT election, reduced from 14 seats before the election to just four or five seats.           .................

The CLP kept their 7, won 6 from Labor and 2 from independents. they have 15 seats now

There are some huge swings there.
Many at or just below 10%. Many in the teens, some in the 20's
Amazing.

I think that Miles (QLD), Minns (NSW), Allan (VIC) and Rudd will have not slept much last night! 😆

I think that most of us understand that politicians are just figureheads for the department they lead and are just there for the perks.   It doesn’t really matter what brand they are - in most cases it is as much good exposure in a decent portfolio until something else comes along.

Darwin and especially the NT as a whole have deep, inbuilt and in many cases unsolveable problems.   I listened to the incoming Chief Minister talking about Policing, New Jails, Law and Order and all the rhetoric that those in the past have spruiked to get a gullible public in for the vote.

Good Luck to you Lia Finocchiaro in tackling the NT’s issues.    I fear that once the true problems land on your desk for action rather than finger pointing, the situation will change.   If all the issues you know exist in the NT could have been fixed, they would have by now - both Labor and Liberals have not been able to do it.

Once again, good luck but after having lived there on two occasions, the task will be overwhelming and I await the excuses that will soon be forthcoming and the inevitable back peddling on your election promises to a gullible public

Rudd?? What does he have to do with it? He's the Australian Ambassador to the US.

I guess he (Armie - we take our naming seriously here) forgot there is no generational guilt when an overpaid fat cat moves from one fat job to another after royally screwing the country and people .... not when you are a political insider ... Australia has to accept generational guilt for Arthur Phillip planting a flag and telling the locals the real estate laws have changed from colonial conquest by spear to peaceful colonial assimilation and organised government regulation .... but when you are a Chosen One, no such liability accrues for your past or even your most grievous errors.

Waiting for the headlines on how this election result impacts more on women and refugees and Aborigines than anyone else.  ...

I meant to say Albanese. Apologies - had been a long day.
