Thomas A. Edison said as early as in 1931, “I’d put my money on the sun and solar energy. What a source of power! I hope we don’t have to wait until oil and coal run out before we tackle that.”

Labor and LNP and Greens should be scared the People's Liberation Front Of Australia don't finally rise up in their righteous wrath and demand that the overly centralised in the capital cities states be dismembered and created anew into smaller and more manageable states - just like they did when they separated Victoria and Queensland from 'New South Wales'.

It is clear that the thinking of those who are city dwellers does not gel with that of those who are not - and far too often theories are presented as realities by those far away in capital cities who do not have a direct finger on the pulse of their chosen issue(s)... i.e. are out of touch and have, as I said earlier about Plebeian Seeker, have first honed their own ignorance and often stupidity, and then have cultivated it in the ivory tower gardens surrounded by mega-wealth and public money to burn.

The capital cities, by virtue of being relatively small in area, crowded and isolated, are prime breeding grounds for that which most people consider anathema to any democracy - overly strong overly centralised government.  Smaller states can deal more effectively with social issues in their region than some distant Big Brother steeped in social science book larnin'.

The time has come, mes enfants, for the people to demand that the number of states be increased and for the current huge states with their centralised and out of touch governments be dismantled.  Even a superficial look will tell you that the size of most of our states is ridiculous and that is why they are unmanageable.

I'll re-do the map for Secessionist Queensland for yez, and will begin on a few others... NSW first....

That is one firm step - you decide if it is positive or negative - towards resolution of many of our current social malaises.

Shees - even the CFMEU big, sweaty, hairy-chested Unionists (unlike the nurses, firies and coppers who are 'civilised' Unionists when on strikes - a 'better class' of Commo) - called Albo Albonazi!!

I like it!  It could have value as a weapon of words..... though those words won't wound him inside (Cher's song) - he may be a marshmallow who puts on a tough act for the cameras - but he is a very word-absorbent marshmallow.  They just bounce off the soft rubbery texture and fail to penetrate even if they don't bounce off - sort of political reactive armour.

I see right through him......

Don’t mind the teals but the greens are wreckers and neoliberals. Australia would be rather greener without the bloody Greens.

That's because Albo and Chalmers, like the Coalition, has fallen for Thatcher's neoliberal low-tax, and hence low government spending regime, meaning public schools and hospitals are underfunded.

At least the Greens have the integrity to insist on higher taxes, to deliver adequate public services.

The Conservatives  of course are driven by personal enrichment at the expense of the general welfare, hence entrenched poverty and soaring inequality, as Labor also appeals to self-interest via the ever-lower taxes regime.

Greens "neoliberals"?

You are confused; the Greens want you - and the wealthy - to pay higher taxes.

Neoliberalism wants private sector markets to determine wealth distribution.

Wrong as usual, Gough was right: the states should be abolished, and replaced with local councils, to stop the buck passing between the states and the Commonwealth

(Councils would be financed by the Commnwealth on a needs basis; public hospitals, public schools and  public transport would be funded by the Oz treasury, Oz wide).

thats why they are a third wheel instead of being the driver.

Jo public will generally not vote for higher taxes. Every single time they have an opportunity to step up, they baulk, instead opting for the $3 week tax cuts ...

Umm - I believe many large corporations pay very little tax as a percentage of their profits -
especially ones like Google.

The Greens are a risk, they're not going to be able to take votes from the Libs or the Nats, they're going to come from Labor.

A lot of what the Greens want to implement are easy to support, especially for the younger Australians, BUT, there Greens will never be in a position to have to implement them.

If Labor adopts them, the Greens will want to push them too far since they don't need to be responsible for their implementation and want all the credit.

Long story short, the road back to the next Liberal / National Government is paved with Green Bricks.
