4 Corners & Q&A tonight
Sep 9th, 2024 at 7:30pm

Four Corners The Strata Trap

8:32PM - 9:18PM

Linton Besser exposes the graft and greed of the strata industry -
supposed to protect apartment owners' interests -
with shocking stories of financial abuse and a lack of meaningful consumer protection.

( are the scammers ever put in jail ? )

Q+A

9:35PM - 10:38PM
It's a basic right - a roof over our heads -
that's become one of the greatest social and public policy challenges of our times.
There's a crippling shortage of housing in Australia.

( will they talk about how money printing and mass uncontrolled immigration has caused the problem? )

Excellent expose.

Not selling the house to get an apartment managed by a strata corporation. Dirty, money grubbing business.

How people can invest so much of their vital energies in devising and running crooked, deceitful schemes. Filthy lucre is irresistible to many, many people.

Q&A was interesting.

They did discuss immigration but no one took responsibility for it being
totally out of control with nowhere for people to live.

Massive out of control money printing was not mentioned once.

Australia encourages crooks to prosper that's why there are so many of them here  Sad

Since they never want to get rid of negative gearing why didn't someone ask why they don't limit NG and CGT discounts to brand new house and land packages ?? Surely that is the pathway to increasing the supply instead  of recycling the same old dumps that were built back in the 40's ??

Why would anyone buy a new build they're usually full of defects that are expensive to fix.
In some cases like Mascot tower it was condemned people are paying for units that nobody lives in.

A double brick built in the 40s will still be standing in another 100 years much safer investment.

Those old brick places are being pulled down and 2 to 4 units or townhouses built on the land.
We need more housing to be built.
How can we encourage that?

Older unit blocks made with bricks have lasted longer than new unit blocks.

I wouldn't buy a new unit seen too many with expensive repairs needed.

Older blocks that are still structurally sound would be a far better investment.

Yes we need more housing builders are going broke material costs are increasing then we have a shortage of tradies.
Add in all the red tape council regs it becomes a nightmare

It is a nightmare -
just getting the: electricity, gas, water and sewage connections done
with all the proper meters is a hell of a job -
yet alone building a whole unit or townhouse -
getting all the designs and approvals.
As the guy said on Q&A - it was taking 4 years for one Unit to be built.
