A 27-year-old Canton woman will spend a year in prison for killing and eating a cat in a case that drew international attention during the U.S. presidential campaign.

The judge imposed 18 months of incarceration for probation violations. The animal cruelty incident constituted a violation of probation given for previous convictions for child endangering, theft and misuse of credit cards in two separate cases. He said he wants to give Ferrell's three children a chance in life.
