I am opposed to this as it obviously takes jobs away.  But...Aldi is annoying.  They don't have enough staff on hand to deal with customers timely going through the manned checkout.  At my local, they now have self checkout.

So, I've got what I want and look at the manned checkout.  FMD.....I'll be there till the cows come home.  So.  I try the self checkout.

Slow, not intuitive, but at least it's my slow, and there is no queue.

I do the self thing. 

I get home and deep down in the corner of the bag is an onion I realise I did not put through the checkout. I am a thief!!!!

So, yesterday, I went to the same Aldi, took one onion, went to the manned checkout, and told the lady to charge me for two onions, explaining why.

She smiled and did it.

Well done, her.

I was in Aldi yesterday. I said to the checkout lady "I was feeling a bit depressed, until I walked in here". The only criticism I have of the store is that they have no "cash or card" options available for "pensioners" such as I.
