It's quicker using the direct route as the crow flies:

I understand the serious undertones of this topic. But, my personal record is only bettered by Peter Brock and a few other invitees (including a local police officer -- pursuit team).

Try mapping an arterial road route through Rockhampton -- from Gomersall Rd to Port Curtis Rd, without using anything more than the bridges as a main thoroughfare. If you make it there in under 18 minutes, you have done about 110% of the speed limit at most.

Rosco McGlashan currently holds the Australian land speed record at 802.6 km/h. He did Rockhampton in 90 secs.

You might be done inside 90 seconds. But most people know that the fastest you could travel from Boundary Rd to Port Curtis would be about 2 minutes 30 in a supercharged vehicle.

Why is the land speed record only 800kmh in Australia? Are the drivers here in Oz just a bunch of "chicken dung"?

'Andy Green of US drove a twin turbofan car at 1,227 km/h in 1997 and it exceeded the sound barrier of 1,235 km/h at Mach 1.016'.
This proves: 1). Yanks can't read maps or do maths.
2).  You get booked for loud exhaust if you break the sound barrier in Rockhampton.

1. Yanks don't need to read maps or do maths. They have it all mapped out for them on their pristine highways.

2. If I tried to break the sound barrier in Rockhampton using my $5000 runabout car, "getting booked for a loud exhaust" would be the last of my troubles.

They're hot to trot.
Queensland Police on-road motorcycles are currently Yamaha FJR1300 & Honda ST1300.
FJR  248kmh 0-96kmh in 2.7 sec.
ST    225km/h   0-100km/h  3.5s.

I would borrow a friend's Kawasaki, back in my younger days. I tried riding the bike around for a few months. Decided to not bother anymore. Dad thought it was cool. So, he bought himself a discount version of a Harley Davidson.

My old man was a bit of a speed junkie, ex racer etc. I spend a bit of my "youth" in quick street cars doing 12-13 sec quarter mile runs , on dirt bikes, speedway, racing etc (some legal, some not). A couple of horror crashes at high speed, lucky to be here really.

I would race down Musgrave Street in my old rustbucket, back in the 1990s. I was on my way home from work, and the drug dealers/car enthusiasts of the time would always race down the street from Elphinstone to High Street.

It came down to a matter of who could drag race their car the fastest. When I was 18 years old, I decided to race my co-worker to work, doing High Street to Elphinstone. That was back in the day when police were still doing manual radar. I got told to slow down a few times. But the police insisted that I was still going too fast for the 60 kmh zone.

Decided to do 50 kmh an hour from Elphinstone to my workplace. I worked on Little Musgrave Street near a tyre autoshop. Oh, alright... I worked at the bowling alley. Parked my car undercover many times. Many needles littered around the car park.

2022, I have yet to see many sharps, since they put in a set of cameras.

Got pulled over by a police officer who said that I should not be parking in a bus zone. I did not realise that they had a bus service at 8pm. Uber drivers beware.

And what has that got to do with speed records of 800+ kmh?

With gambling, chances are you lose. How much are you paying yearly for unusual driving behaviour?

You say 'chicken dung'. But it leaves the highway patrol behind in your dust.
