Israel will face “a crushing response from the axis of resistance”, the commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Hossein Salami, has told Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, according to state media.

Salami made the statement on Thursday after unprecedented attacks in the previous two days on Hezbollah pagers and walkie-talkies, which killed 37 people and wounded more than 2,900 when hundreds of devices were detonated almost simultaneously.

The “axis of resistance” refers to Iran-aligned armed groups in the Middle East, including Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Yemen’s Houthis and Iraq’s Popular Mobilisation Forces.

Lebanon and Hezbollah have blamed Israel for the attacks on Tuesday and Wednesday. Israel has not directly commented on the blasts, but security sources said they were probably carried out by its Mossad spy agency.

“Such terrorist acts are undoubtedly the result of the Zionist regime’s [Israel’s] despair and successive failures. This will soon be met with a crushing response from the axis of resistance, and we will witness the destruction of this bloodthirsty and criminal regime,” Salami said in his message to Nasrallah.

I just feel sorry for Anthony Blinken. The guy tried so hard to calm tensions, to get people to the table for a cease fire. It seemed Israel really had no plans for a cease fire at all. Its defence minister is very confident that Israel is ready for the next phase of the war, that is attack on Lebanon.

This will surely drag US into it as well, and of course, Australia.

My friends... we are witnessing the start of another never ending war, and the AUKUs money is all but wasted.

Blinken was directly complicit in mass murder and genocide. Blinken was associated with the decisions to send 2000-pound bombs and other WMD to Israel to bomb civilians.

Blinken is the epitome of US global diplomatic failures that have caused and intensified wars and death.

Israel has finally had enough and has decided this must end once and for all. If it was your family you'd be doing the same, so stop lying to yourselves and preening about your moral high ground.

There can never be any peace agreement which leaves Ham Ass and Hezbollards in position to continue to strike at Israel.

Anyway - I said this was the flashpoint - fortunately to date the US etc have accepted that a lot of the big talk is just that - big talk from the hostile Arabs and Persians... as long as they carry on and jump up and down and smoke comes out of their ears over what they're going to do - with no results - all is good.

Like our politicians - they think they are winning if they talk tough in front of the cameras and microphones.
