https://www.axios.com/2024/09/17/hezbollah-pager-explosion-israel-didnt-tell-bid...

A U.S. official said that several minutes before the pagers started exploding across Lebanon, Israeli Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant called U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and told him Israel was going to conduct an operation in Lebanon soon, but refused to give any specific details.

The U.S. official said the Israelis didn't tell the U.S. about the specifics of the operation, but added that Gallant's call was an attempt to avoid keeping the U.S. totally in the dark.
Nevertheless, U.S. officials said they didn't see Gallant's call as a serious prior notice. "We were not aware of this operation and were not involved," U.S. State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller told reporters on Tuesday.
Austin spoke to Gallant on the phone twice on Tuesday and discussed the situation, Israeli and U.S. officials said.

Driving the news: The operation was approved earlier this week during security meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and senior members of his cabinet and the heads of the security services, a source with knowledge said.

It took place a day after U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein visited Israel and warned Netanyahu of the consequences of a major escalation in Lebanon.
On Tuesday, Netanyahu and Israel's Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant spent several hours at the IDF command center in Tel Aviv, an Israeli official said.

The source said Israeli intelligence services assessed ahead of the operation
that Hezbollah would likely retaliate with a major attack against Israel.

Hsu Ching-Kuang the Taiwanese owner of the brand and Cristiana Barsony-Arcidiacono the purported licensee for EU manufacture are both criminally complicit. Its likely that Mossad will terminate both with prejudice to prevent further information becoming known from investigations into the terrorist crime.

Cristiana Barsony-Arcidiacono should be speaking from behind bars.

The plot thickens:

... Asked about the pagers and the explosions, the CEO of BAC Consulting, Cristiana Barsony-Arcidiacono, told Sky News: "I don't make the pagers. I am just the intermediate. I think you got it wrong." ...

Two children were killed in pager attacks, Lebanese health minister says

From CNN’s Tamara Qiblawi and Sarah El Sirgany

At least two children were killed in Tuesday’s pager attacks across Lebanon, the country’s Health Minister Firass Abiad said.

The nature of the injuries show that many of the pagers were in homes, where children were playing with the devices, Abiad added in a Wednesday news conference.

It is unclear how many Hezbollah members were killed in the explosions.

When asked by CNN on Wednesday, Hezbollah lawmaker Hussein Haj Hassan did not specify how many among the dead were Hezbollah members.

Will Egypt join in?

Blinken says US "did not know" about Lebanon pager attacks, urges "all parties" not to escalate conflict
From CNN's Rob Picheta and Kylie Atwood

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has urged “all parties” in the Middle East to avoid “any steps that could escalate the conflict” in Gaza, after Lebanon blamed Israel for a series of pager explosions that targeted Hezbollah members.

Blinken said during a news conference in Egypt that the United States “did not know about nor was it involved in these incidents.”

“We’re still gathering the information and gathering the facts,” Blinken told reporters. “We remain very clear about the importance of all parties avoiding any steps that could further escalate the conflict in Gaza.”

Blinken was talking alongside Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty who condemned the attacks and warned that escalations could lead to the Middle East “moving to the edge of comprehensive regional war.”

“Egypt is against any unilateral action that can attack the sovereignty of Lebanon,” Abdelatty said.
“We are in full solidarity with the government of Lebanon and the people of Lebanon.

“We will condemn any targeting of the Lebanese sovereignty,” he added.

‘Use it or lose it’: Israel reportedly set off pagers amid fears plot was exposed

Mossad reportedly put explosives in thousands of pagers during production
before devices reached Lebanon, planning to detonate them in the event of full-scale war

Israel caused thousands of Hezbollah terror group pagers to explode Tuesday, killing nine people and wounding nearly 3,000, amid fears that Hezbollah was about to uncover that the devices had been tampered with, according to Wednesday reports.

Israeli intelligence services originally wanted to detonate the pagers as an opening blow in an all-out war against Hezbollah, Axios reported, citing American and Israeli officials. They chose to act early, however, when a Hezbollah member became suspicious of the devices and planned to alert his superiors, Al-Monitor reported.

Just days earlier, a different Hezbollah member had come to suspect the devices had been tampered with, and then he was killed, Al-Monitor said.

Upon learning of the suspicions, Israeli leaders reportedly considered launching an immediate full-scale war in order to retain the pager attack as an opening blow. They also considered leaving things as they were, even at the risk of the operation being compromised, according to the Al-Monitor report.

Israel has not commented on the detonations, neither claiming nor denying responsibility.

Yes bobby, that [the fear of potential discovery] would be an incentive,
to activate the option, to injure so many Hezbollah operatives.

Use it, before you lose it.

The Middle East is a powder keg at the moment -
this could set it off and send 150,000 rockets on their way to Israel at any moment from Lebanon
and 10s of 1000s more from Iran and its proxies.

It was a stupid thing to do

if, if, if Israel wanted to avoid an all out existential war.

bobby,

Yes.

It would seem that way.      [.....a stupid provocation by Israel,
......unless Israel actually wants to provoke Hezbollah,
to send 10's thousands of rockets] ???

Maybe Israel wants a provocation [i.e. an act of war] from Hezbollah,
.....to justify Israel flattening Beirut ???

Maybe Israel is tired of this current 'war of attrition'     ....with 'Lebanon'  ????

And would like to get serious.     ......and 'spank' Hezbollah, really hard ???

i.e.
Like Israel has, in Gaza, with Hamas.

The soldiers in Israel are worn out -
can they really fight a massive war right now?

Reinforcements are coming.... 17-75 ....they shall not pass.....

Arab citizens and singers have launched songs and videos, calling it '#Pager and Pegering,' celebrating Israel's successful targeting of over 5,000 Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon with just a click from Tel Aviv. This is how you bring them home—by sending these savages to hell. Meanwhile, you will see protesters in London and New York tomorrow, chanting "from pagers to Nokia.. #Lebanon will be free."

Sunni Arabs are mocking Shia Hezbollah, they mocked Hezbollah when they attacked Israel in retalition with missile landing on a Chicken farm.
