IDF says troops in south Lebanon engaged in close-quarters combat with Hezbollah operatives

The IDF releases new footage of the 98th Division operating in southern Lebanon, since launching a ground operation there on Monday night.

The military says the division has been engaged in close-quarters combat with Hezbollah operatives, as well as directing airstrikes on gunmen and the terror group’s positions.

In one recent operation, the division’s Egoz commando unit destroyed a Hezbollah position, including a rocket launcher and a cache of explosives, according to the IDF.

More than 150 Hezbollah sites have been hit by the Israeli Air Force amid the operations, the military adds.

IDF says some Iranian missiles hit airbases,
but no aircraft or major infrastructure damaged.

The IDF acknowledges that some of its airbases were hit in the Iranian missile attack on Israel late last night.

The impacts damaged office buildings and other maintenance areas in the bases that do not impact the IAF’s functioning, according to the military.

No Israeli Air Force aircraft were damaged in the attack and all of the missile impacts in Israeli airbases are deemed by the IDF as “ineffective,” meaning that no harm was caused to the continuous operations of the IAF.

The military reports no damage caused to fighter jets, drones, other aircraft, munitions and critical infrastructure.

Highlighting the ineffectiveness of the Iranian attack, the military notes that the IAF continued its operations in the following hours, including major strikes against Hezbollah in Beirut, support for ground forces in southern Lebanon and strikes in Gaza.

No major injuries were caused in the attack, with only two civilians lightly hurt by shrapnel in Tel Aviv.

IDF soldier killed fighting in south Lebanon in first casualty of ground operation.

The IDF announces the death of an officer who was killed during fighting against Hezbollah, the first fatality of Israel’s ground operation in Lebanon.

The soldier is named as Cpt. Eitan Itzhak Oster, 22, a team commander in the Egoz Commando Unit, from Modi’in.

Oster was killed during a battle with Hezbollah operatives in a village in southern Lebanon.
