Lidia Thorpe may be ineligible to sit in Senate
Oct 24th, 2024 at 11:25am

That moronic attention seeker Lidia Thorpe has made an admission that she never swore allegiance to the Queen correctly, making a deliberate mispronunciation of the word "heirs"...

After Nationals Senator Bridget McKenzie questioned whether her actions contradicted the parliamentary oath she swore, Thorpe revealed she made a change when reciting the affirmation.

"I swore allegiance to the queen's hairs," she told the ABC.

"If you listen close enough, it wasn't her 'heirs', it was her 'hairs' that I was giving my allegiance to and now that they are no longer here, I don't know where that stands."

In the oath she swore: "I ... do swear that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, Her heirs and successors according to law."

Based on this, "there may be a High Court case that may succeed for her non-oath, for her revelation that she didn't really swear the oath of allegiance. There's some possibility of the courts accepting the claim that she's not duly sworn in." I hope someone does bring a case against her in the High Court, I hope she loses and is forced to vacate that seat and to repay taxpayers the salary she has been paid - in full.

I hope she goes too, but she signed a written oath so I don't think this will amount to anything.

Heirs, hairs... Irrelevant. Thorpe signed the oath as they all do.

She's now walked back from her earlier claim that she deliberately messed up the oath.

Perhaps she realised she was heading for legal problems?   Grin

Check out her Facebook page. I mean it - seriously. Go look at it and tell me whether it looks like the Facebook page of a Senator who sits in Federal Parliament, or an Aboriginal rights activist. Virtually every post is on Aboriginal topics, with a few misguided posts about Gaza. Nothing about other Victorians who aren't Aboriginal people. Nothing. Sadly, I am one of her supposed constituents here in Victoria. She is nothing more than a misguided, lunatic activist sitting in the federal Senate and us taxpayers are paying ($217,000 per year) for her activism, quite literally.

Should Lidia Thorpe be forced to resign or removed from office somehow, or should she be permitted to stay for the remaining three years of her term? See poll added to topic.

Exactly.

The signed oath had no mistakes.

I'm afraid we're stuck with her.

It's obvious.
If shevwants to play stupid and mentally retarded "hair instead of heirs"
Sack her on diminished mental acuity.

The only reason she is still there is because albosleazy  is in trouble and may need her seat.
Won't be a problem after 5ge next election, I doubt she will get in again.
There can't be that many knucklevdragging, spittle drooling morons out there to elect it again.

She is an Idiot but the oath was to Her heirs and successors.

The successors bit covers it the heirs is basically meaningless. Once the Heir takes office he / she is the successor. It's the same person but has no relevance while still a Heir. She would have signed the affirmation.

In other terms who cares.

No it was clearly 'her hairs and suckers'. And she holds up her fist which gives an extra vote.

"Ordah.. ORDAH!!  Senator Thorpe!  You must learn that this Senate is NOT the place for political statements..... you have seriously disturbed some of our sleeping members!  You are henceforth barred from entering this place until you resolve your personal issues, and apologise to this house and to the Royal Family for your outbursts and your power saluting!"

We need some politicians with balls to say it like it is and not treat it as some kindergarten game, and we need a Squeaker who has more on show than a golf ball factory...

One who will do this:-

Her behaviour should breach some sort of Parliamentary protocol.

She is either a Senator representative of her whole constituency or a rabid ratbag militant Aboriginal activist.

She can't be or shouldn't be allowed to be both.
