I  really despise her and its not because she is female ( what a terrible toll that pregnacy would have taken on her ass) but it because of how low she went to get the job from Rudd- I was a Rudd supporter, and i was almost in tears about he was treated by that scumbag bitch- i am saying it now because she deserves it and someone has to say it- I hate that bitches guts- go be homeless in america- they love a bit of ass over that way- be useful for something you bitch.

I am glad I spoke up- I may not be here much longer.

Wasn't a Rudd supporter for me he left knives in too many backs. He did have some good points but he cost elections by undermining the leader while just positioning himself. I think that Gillard was very good.

Good Luck wherever you go.

I somehow, like in a daze, find myself agreeing with you Agnes.

To me, she was the 'flip-side' of the Pauline Hanson burger.
Pauline shows 'good intentions' but is politically not savvy, efficient or smart.
Julia Gillard on the other hand, was politically savvy, smart, cunning, etc. But everything she stood for in Politics was Selfish, Man-hating Sexist and corrupt for the USA as the priority.

My political 'secret' is that I was told by one of the few Anti-Apartheid South African dissidents that made it to Australia alive. That Kevin Rudd WILL BE Australia's next Prime Minister and that was a term before he actually did. Rudd was still a back-bencher. Now this tall South African taught me 'his' Politics, which I now see as my first contact with a 'Media Lefty' in politics (we both shared in the same Boarding House - both hiding out. Wink). He taught it with making a bed (coffin style) and a big Spanner (in the works) to enforce his point of view. Luckily the Bed and Spanner were not for me. Still, many years later. Rudd out of nowhere became PM.

I've met her when working with Beyond Blue in the past.

I'm very conflicted.  In my experience, her outside of politics is nothing like the image we got of her in politics from her Shadow roles, to deputy, to Prime Minister.

I don't agree with what Labor did with the leadership changes, even if the Libs ended up doing worse yet still managed to brand Labor as the "dysfunctional ones".

I was probably more of a Rudd supporter than a Gillard one, but they were both still borderline "least objectionable options" rather than something I felt I could get behind and support.  Their alternatives were just much much worse, mainly Tony Abbott.

Yeah, I'm conflicted on my stance...

Aww, please.

Rudd was removed because he was an erratic nutjob trotting around the world making unilateral announcements about world geopolitical directions, pissing off the US, the EU and the UK - none of whom he bothered to consult before making them.

Australia's non-Asian allies wanted him out, and they got their wish—he was replaced by a pro-West leader: Julia Gillard.

Gillard would never have ascended to the role at all, had Rudd been able to control his mouth and his narcissistic ego.

Leave out Labor..... define 'being a politician' - what are the virtues we seek from them?  What do we get?

Talking to the Eld Gel on the road yesterday and I said that I scarcely ever really took much note of Tanya Plebeian Sect, given that she was just another Labor sheila (no real value needed to get a gig) - but since she's taken over that environment portfolio, she has shown herself to be THE dumb blonde, sucked in by any fanciful idea from any bunch of stirring Abos seeking to impose the supremacy of 'their ways' over everything and everyone.

Some would see that in a far more sinister way - as being actually pushing the voice by stealth behind the people's backs.

We pay these people handsomely so they can retire in riches for life.

Are ANY of them doing anything of value for YOU?

Sorry, missed that time frame.

I don't really like any of them enough to spend the time to find out which I would consider "the best".

Unfortunately, Labor tend to roll out the same old and tired faces to sit on their front bench year after year.  There is very little “new blood” coming through and the same people just roll between portfolios until they retire for one reason or another.    I am tired of seeing the same Albaneses, Burke, Bowen,Plibersek, Shorten  etc - plus the elevationon of ex trade union leaders to cabinet positions just because they “did” something.    The whole Labor front line needs renewing.

There are none at the moment that I would consider worthy of an outstanding politician mantle

Albo is fighting 'Tories'.
But there are no Tories in Australia. The vast majority of Australians are hard working, aspirational types. These are the people Albo is fighting, using their taxes to do it.
