ARLINGTON, Texas — The slap heard 'round the world struck Jake Paul on the left cheek Thursday night.

Mike Tyson whipped his open-palmed right hand across Paul’s face at the weigh-in before their wild and weird and puzzling event.

Tyson vs. Paul.

In a boxing ring.

At midfield in AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Based on social media reaction, the slap fueled excitement but also speculation that the fight is less than legitimate. But there’ll be no slapping when the gloves go on during an odd pairing.

Tyson, the 58-year-old former heavyweight champ, will be fighting as a pro for the first time in almost two decades against Paul, the 27-year-old social media sensation.

Netflix will livestream it to 280 million viewers.

A crowd of about 70,000 is expected to watch it live.

I'm a bit worried about Mike -
he is putting his life on the line to a guy less than half his age.

It goes without saying that a prime, 1980s-era Tyson would almost certainly have dealt with Paul within a few minutes.

Does he retain enough residue of the talent and destructive power that made him the youngest heavyweight champion in history in 1986, at the age of 20 years and four months? Bob Arum, the legendary 92-year-old boxing promoter who has seen it all, is unequivocal.

“The answer is no,” Arum told Secondsout.com last month.

“A 58-year-old guy, no matter how good they were, no matter how athletic they were, are not gonna be able to fight.

“You can’t throw punches like you’re supposed to, you can’t do a lot of things. I hope Mike doesn’t get hurt, but I really give him relatively no chance.”

YouTube suspended all those videos even though they
were mostly covered with symbols so you couldn't see them properly -
but -
apparently Netflix went down anyway
so no one could see it -
great job Netflix - idiots.

A good example of internet companies selling programs when
they don't have the bandwidth to provide them
to such a large audience of 100s of millions. Roll Eyes
