if you study any of the great teachers they will tell you the worst thing you can do for anyone is to tell them they are a victim and then give them a handout
you rob them of agency, you rob them of legitimate self esteem, they cannot see opportunities that exist. it is an amoral thing to do.
Or, an even faster, more visceral lesson, is to see what happens to high-order primates, bears, large cats and other animals of high intelligence capacity when kept in zoos that provide an environment where they need not forage or hone their survival skills.
The same severe neurotic symptoms that humans develop: deep depression, withdrawal and volatility.
Repetitive rocking, continual pacing, self-harm, aggressive outbursts, over-eating, insanity, diseases...
The damaging effects of a life devoid of danger, risk and survival by self-effort are more than psychological, they're also biological, physiological and neurological.
