It's actually all about statistics.

While a gun can indeed protect you it's more likely
that you'll be shot with your own gun in your own house:

arguments,
heat of the moment situations,
drugs,
booze,
insanity,
suicides,
kids getting hold of them,
accidents.

Then why, given the number of guns available, aren’t the US figures much higher?
As high at least as the countries that have strict gun laws but a higher murder rate.

Whilst on the subject of self defence, are Aboriginal Australians allowed to possess their cultural weapons for self defence as such weapons and defence are part of their heritage?

The figures are very high - about 40,000 gun deaths every year in the USA -
& countless more severe injuries.
It's like a war zone.

Obviously you’ve never been in a war zone, the firearms desarh rate in the US is low

The US is so dangerous that it only attracted 70 million tourists last year, that’s nearly twice the UK number, obviously the.terrible gun problem is affecting the numbers, meanwhile Australia had 7.4 million tourists a sad reflection on the perceived level of safety. [a hint of sarcasm😇😇].
