Well, I don't usually vote in elections here but in the interests of finding out about the candidates and what they have to offer I'm wondering if anyone knows who this Dev Null is and what he plans to 'bring to the table' in the hope of being elected?

I can't find any information about him but the only other person named Dev that I've ever heard of is Dev Tarrant from the classic BBC sci-fi series Blake's 7 but if our Dev Null is anything like that I probably won't vote for him.

(Sorry Vic - I couldn't resist).

This will discard anything written to it, and will return EOF on reading. It is a virtual device, which has a special property: Any data written to /dev/null vanishes or disappears.

I am using the poll function to collect expressions of interest - so when you select the “i want to” button, your name is captured. But, the poll function requires at least two options - i only need one - so I used dev Null is just a blank field. When the poll time has run, I can use the names as a vote field. Takes me back to my UNIX days

I have tried all the options in the poll software to see if I could get the names of those who nominated to show - unfortunately I can’t do it. It will of course show all nominations when the selection poll is run in it’s own right. Those who have nominated are free to reveal who they are if they wish.

Indeed. However Captain, I draw your attention to a series on one of the pay per views in Australia:

Alas and Alack, my vision was not realised. The series is Australian, filmed in Brisbane and surrounds and the only thing missing is a jar of vegemite and a plonk cork rimmed hat. Thankfully, Series Two has been axed
