Former prime minister Paul Keating’s huge payday as Telstra buys Boost Mobile

Former prime minister Paul Keating is expecting a huge payday as Telstra acquires Boost Mobile, the company he co-founded in 2000.

Telecommunications giant Telstra will acquire Boost Mobile for almost $140 million – giving former prime minister Paul Keating a huge payday.

Mr Keating co-founded the prepaid mobile phone business with Peter Adderton in 2000 and will now pocket at least

$40 million

from the sale, according to the Australian Financial Review.

It is understood Mr Keating, who was Australia’s 24th prime minister between 1991 and 1996, has almost a 30 per cent stake in the company.

He told AFR he was “reasonable” at his own ventures.

“I’ve got a chunk of a successful business which I co-founded and funded myself,” Mr Keating said.

This shows clearly why they so desperately need their highly preferential retirement scheme after their years of losing out by serving the public.... not one of them - after years of abject servitude to the people and at lowly rates of pay and having suffered the utter loss of esteem for their service - has EVER gone straight into another lucrative position .... EVER!

They NEED that highly preferential retirement scheme just to survive on its pittance...

What a great argument for abolishing their scheme and for making sure none of them 'serve' too long so they don't accumulate too much of a fortune tax-free for life....... how many years has the Plebiean Sect served before we all found out how Slow Vakian she is, to listen to a mob of liars and grifters about some fantasy blue striped bee songline..... and Albo fights Tories - he's not a Tory ... just gets all the benefits of being one without being one.... sort of a:- "I accept no salary from The Reich" thing, you understand....

Ah yes - without that scheme they could not survive in that big world out there...... nosiree, Bob.... it's far too tough out there - so they need their special treatments for life ... poor buggars.....
