The CIA and various powerplays
Dec 8th, 2024 at 6:43am

a very good interview by rogan.

explains

1 how the CIA came into disrepute with democrats due to global interference resulting in jimmy carter winning office 40 years agi .  their name was dirt and they had to re pivot.  this re pivot was in the form of billions of dollars of funding NGO's , effectively  goverment funded, non-government organisations Undecided Undecided

2  the regime change wars nearly always fought by gaining control of state media

3  oringinally seeing leftie socialists as the people who must be censored and smeared but pivoting to see right wing populists as am existential  threat to CIA plans

4  the plan for american imperial expansion is to control energy assets in africa and eastern europe/asia.  done through the military (hard power) and cia (soft power) but the CIA hiding this by funding the "centre of democracy"

5  the power the CIA have over the tech platforms and the threats and real costs that are imposed on the tech platforms if they do not "play ball"

6 a good explanation of burisma (the gas company hunter was involved in). burisma was set up after the cia funded the coup that brought zelensky to power. zelensky was made to implement policies at the specific direction of the cia.  7 former cia directors sat on the board (interesting that someone high in the cia is on less then  300,000 pa and the gravy always comes from these sort of deals. burisma was a private amercian gas company which was going to extract gas from the ukraine and this was great for 2 reasons  (every dollar of gas they sold was one less dollar russia sold and this was going to be incredibly profitable )  biden was sort of a patsy to allow these guys to get away with it and they, of course, organised the recent pardons because they want none of this exposed.  not forgetting the clip showing jo biden telling the world that america will decide which prosecutors will work in the ukraine

7  the recognition by the CIA that they cannot exert soft power at home but that this can be done by hand picking universities, professors, media influencers and then co opting them into doing what is required

8  the new catch plrase "whole of society approach " to preventing "disinformation"

all in all a fairly sobering story of how american power is projected abroad and at home

watch from about 27 minutes in if you are interested

Well...

1. Jimmy Carter did inform Australia and other allies that the CIA would 'never again' interfere in our domestic politics, confirming what Whitlam had always asserted.

But it was hardly the reason Carter won office. Americans are not motivated to vote for or against an administration because the CIA 'behaves badly' beyond US shores. The CIA acts the way it does regardless of the administration - as the Kennedy brothers asserted. Carter was elected largely as a result of the disastrous Nixon Administration.

2. After WW2, the US decided it was not going to construct a traditional territorial empire—it would create one by controlling global trade using its almost untouched navy, promoting and enforcing democracy to eliminate resisting dictators (unless those dictators were aligned with US interests), and establishing military bases across the world.

These strategies have proven to be the most effective in creating a US 'pseudo' empire at the lowest possible cost, and all run from within the US without the overhead of directly administering the territory.

Although Carter made a heroic effort, no US president has ended CIA interference in a foreign country's domestic politics.

Also, the CIA operates as a president's personal and secret army, so...

The peoples of every powerful and ascendant nation throughout history see themselves as the leading civilising force and consider it their manifest destiny to impose their culture and values on 'lesser' cultures.

Of course, this always results in the ascendant nation's enrichment.

The US differs from the Spanish, French, Portuguese, Dutch and British empires of recent centuries in that its imperial reach is covert.

The British Empire, particularly, imposed its authority and manifest destiny by establishing its system of governance wherever it went and by re-elevating its monarchy to its ancient 'divine' status via the pomp, 'circumstance', 'mystery' and 'awe' of majesty.

While the monarch played the role of 'the gracious, benevolent, and the compassionate', the British establishment then ruled - to the benefit of the British first.

agreed

the CIA see that countries like russia and china have no porblems when it comes to carrying out the wishes of the powerful because they are autocracies.

So the powerful in the USA cant really be aurocratic in their expression of power. it has to be covert.

but do you think the CIA just goes cap in hand to the president and does exactly what the president wants done?

if the CIA has worked for years to , say, expand soft power in the ukraine or brazil .
If the arm of the CIA that works with the chamber of commerce to represent the interests of chevron and MAGA (microsoft, apple, google and amazon) overseas .

If former CIA staff are sitting on the boards of companies with vested interests overseas.

do you think they (when they are in control of the media, social media and technology) just say "oh well, that sucks , nothing we can do about it" when a trump or bolsinaro or brexit deal affects their whole regime?

Do you think they feel powerless and see themselves as the plaything of the president .??????

All people who ascend to powerful positions, whether via democratic means or not, have egos that match what it takes to get there.

JFK and RFK both railed against CIA overreach beyond presidential authority, which has led to theories that they were 'executed' by CIA operatives.

However, when the president wants something done, it's the CIA that does the president's dirty work - e.g. Iran-Contra and countless, less publicly exposed, operations.

Both the president and the CIA maintain a 'secret marriage' to each other.

The key to the CIA's political power is to remain covert and, always, maintain the illusion that it always acts on presidential authority. When things come undone - like Iran-Contra - it's a jug-eared rogue colonel (Oliver North) who acted unilaterally while the president (and even CIA seniors) had 'no prior knowledge' - Again, Clancy's "Clear and Present Danger" explores this covert relationship.

So, no, the CIA does not feel existentially threatened by any administration.

At the same time, it must always be mindful of presidential executive power and its ultimate, overt, trumping effect (no pun intended) on the CIA.

I'm looking forward to Niall Ferguson's second volume of Kissinger's biography which documents Kissinger's life from 1968 to his death at 100 in 2023.

If anyone can tell the full, true story of power and politics, Kissinger would be second only to Churchill.

He lost me when he said the fork in the road was Elon buying Twitter and saving free speech on the internet.

Musk has actively censored Twitter and turned it into an ideological crucible.

True, it was indeed a fork in the road - to amp up fake news, with the intention of making Musk the new Rupert.

Musk is about to be in the US government. Not sure what the CIA thinks of all that.

I'd be sending in some underage girls and a hidden camera crew if it was me.

You?

Musk has the psychological and development capacity of a 15-year-old.

No one should be surprised when he acts like one.

The Deep State runs America - all those 3 letter agencies:

CIA,
FBI,
DOJ,
NRO,
NSA,
DOD,
DHS,
DEA,
CID.

Trump will put his own men in charge of them.
