The Milne Bay (southeastern tip of Papua New Guinea) Was their first defeat on land - by the Australians - no less - before this the Japanese Army had a reputation as being invincible ….

Actually, the Japanese were defeated first on the island of Tulagi, on 8 August 1942 by the US Marines.  Milne Bay did not finish until 7 September 1942.

So yeah…. They basically made it to our doorstep  - and YOU would be a FOOL if you take them lightly…

Do your homework people…

The thing that brought down the Japanese was “Supply Routs”

And Army can’t march on an empty stomach - Supply lines started to fail and the Japanese were forced to start eating Soldiers and Civilians who had been killed ..

The Japanese were also partially cruel…

But then again - so were allied forces… at times

The Japanese logistics system started to fail them not long after they had won their initial campaigns against the British and Dutch forces which opposed them in 1942.  By 1943 they were facing disaster and 1944 it visited them in spades.  Their campaigns in New Guinea and Burma were particularly disasters for them.  Tsk, tsk, tsk...  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Was it, Bobby?  I thought their main task was to gain control of the oil rich fields in the Dutch East Indies and Burma.   The American fleet at Pearl Harbor also figured prominently in their strategic thinking.  The British Empire as a whole covered the entire globe, the Asia part was only a small part of it.  Tsk, tsk, tsk...  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Practically every place the Japs invaded was a British controlled country.

The first thing they did was to get on the radio
and tell everyone they were now liberated.

If you need any more help about WW2 then just ask me.    Roll Eyes

So, the British controlled the Philippines?  The Dutch East Indies?  Borneo?  New Guinea?  China?  Manchuria? I think you need a new lesson in Geography, Bobby...  Tsk, tsk, tsk... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Interesting, considering that no one was rich enough to own a radio in those days, apart from the Colonists.  Tsk, tsk, tsk...  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Bobby, there isn't anything you know that I can't find out from a Hollywood movie or two.  I already have a degree in history, I don't think you could add anything of value to it.  Tsk, tsk, tsk...  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
