Whatever the myriad of theories and recriminations, it all boils down to one thing: impulse control.

The US is not known for fostering impulse control amongst it's citizens. It's very much a society built on immediacy. Instant gratification.

Factor that in with abysmal educational standards and a tragicaslly poor diet through the formative years then give it access to automatic eapons.

Brilliant.

Anyone in, say Australia, who had wild impulses would be curtailed by the obvious lack of high end weaponry to fulfill any deviant thoughts that might beset them. Thoughts that were in any event hopefully caught by our superior education system and universal health care. Nonetheless thoughts that, through virtue of one requiring imagination and planning, may just outlast the impulse.

But alas for the lonely, beleaguered, schmuck with access to weaponry and an impulse. Who's gonna stop them?
