It's okay if it's anachronistic ... it's not okay if it's communist.

I blame the drugs. 'North American colonists eased ailments with laudanum, a bitter elixir of alcohol and opium. In the 19th century, recreational smokers sought opium for euphoria and relaxation, while parents soothed restless and teething babies with opiate-laced syrups'.

Opium and guns were addictive to American babies of all ages and genders.

LOL!

And now they're got oxy and automatic weaponry.

Genius.

They had fully automatic weapons pre 1776.

Oh whatever.

Pretend all you like the founding fathers intended the clusterbugger that is modern day America but that's really not going to get less kids killed, now is it.

Not pretending anything, merely correcting an historical error, so that in future you don’t make the same mistake.

My mistake? Did the founding fathers have weapons that fired countless rounds a second?
No, and neither has anyone else, ever
I suspect that you are attempting to draw me to inquire as to these historic automatic weapons. I further suspect that you'd really like that. Like, a lot.
Couldn’t care less, you’re smart enough to Google
Alas, i do not care. All deflection from the issue. As you know. Or at least, should know.

And you should know that on a world scale the US has a relatively low murder rate rate.-

you cant

Dear Mothra,
Thank you for setting me straight. You're always helpful and accurate and I'm not. And have a lovely day,
thanks again
aquascoot and his horse.

moth and her crew have their version of the truth

i have mine

mine appears to be in the ascendancy

hers appear to be finished

she is welcome to her beliefs

they serve me well as a road map to life

if a smug leftie intellectual thinks something, your best bet for an awesome life is to believe the exact opposite

i call this "studying failure"

Your beliefs serve you so well you switch them around by the hour, but do you know?

Your first mistake was a rounded figure. You forgot the Aquascoot cardinal rule: always post a specific fake stat. I mean, really. Nobody's going to buy 3000 American girls on rage roids, now are they? Try 2089.6.

You can then double or triple the number according to your next belief. Better yet, you can abandon your belief entirely, play the old switcheroo and praise our fine young fillies for expressing their true masculinity and joining team Alpha.

They make such awesome weightlifters, no?

Let's face it, the Superior Man's a bit of a bullshitartist. Beliefs are for the chodes. They serve you as a road map to life, no?

It's just a good thing only Elon knows the algorithm.

Horseshit.

America has more fatalities from gun violence, drug overdoses, and auto accidents than just about any other similarly rich nation, and its obesity rate is about 50 percent higher than the European average.

Get the f**k out of here.

It was Ch-Ina.

And as I’ve frequently said before, what has wealth got to do with what is essentially a moral issue?

Go have a look at the countries that have strict gun laws and higher murder rates than the US.

And gun-deaths (apart from suicides)?

Your error (based on your subsequent comment that a nation's wealth doesn't matter):

The US has one of the highest gun-death rates among wealthy nations:

google

The United States has one of the highest gun-death rates in the world, and is an outlier in terms of firearm violence among high-income countries.

Confirming Trump's 2016 observation re US inner cities:

"You are livng in poverty, your neighborhoods are like war zones, your young men are in prison..."

Studies have shown a positive correlation between poverty and youth crime.

If you don't want to get rid of guns, it might be smart to reduce systemic poverty.

(And it might be smart to reduce systemic poverty if you DO get rid of guns....).

If the Union Jack goes from the Australian flag and all things government.
Australians are going to need a lot of guns.

Not if a competent  government eradicates systemic poverty, and houses everyone.

The sky is too blue and vast and lovely in Oz, to worry about killing anyone...

America is in denial out it's gun culture....If the massacre of young children and innocent people does not bring about change, nothing will!!!

Quote:
How US gun culture stacks up with the world

How firearm ownership compares globally

The United States is the only nation in the world where civilian guns outnumber people.

The US has the highest firearm homicide rate in the developed world

In 2019, the number of US deaths from gun violence was about 4 per 100,000 people. That’s 18 times the average rate in other developed countries. Multiple studies show access to guns contributes to higher firearm-related homicide rates.

The US was home to 4% of the world’s population but accounted for 44% of global suicides by firearm in 2019

The country recorded the largest number of gun-related suicides in the world every year from 1990 to 2019.

No other developed nation has mass shootings at the same scale or frequency as the US

Half of the world’s developed countries had at least one public mass shooting between 1998 and 2019.* But no other nation saw more than eight incidents over 22 years, while the United States had over 100 — with almost 2,000 people killed or injured.

Gun-related deaths reduced after the introduction of stricter laws in these countries

Shortly after a mass shooting in Tasmania, Australia banned rapid-fire rifles and shotguns and tightened licensing rules. Over the next decade, gun deaths dropped by 51%.

The US has the highest firearm homicide rate in the developed world[
which is completely irrelevant

In 2019, the number of US deaths from gun violence was about 4 per 100,000 people. That’s 18 times the average rate in other developed countries.
again, what has development got to do with it, please explain, and multiple studies shew that access to cars results in more car related deaths, same for electricity, and Macca’s hamburgers

Multiple studies show access to guns contributes to higher firearm-related homicide rates.

The US was home to 4% of the world’s population but accounted for 44% of global suicides by firearm in 2019
Suicides don’t count as suicide is a legal action so cannot be counted in with crimes

And you keep ignoring the countries that have strict gun laws but higher murder rates than the US.

But keep up the humour, you’re not yet ready to give up your day job but keep trying.

Australia did not such thing, where do you get your misinformation?

Of course gun deaths dropped, in accordance with the downward trend that existed before Port Arthur.
