More details are emerging about the shooting at a private school in Madison, Wisconsin. Here's the latest
From CNN's Aditi Sangal
In their most recent update, police said two students, who were taken to local hospitals along with four other people after the shooting Monday at a private Christian school in Madison, Wisconsin, are battling life-threatening injuries and are in critical condition.

Police had earlier reported that
a student and a teacher were killed and others were injured in the shooting

that erupted just before 11 a.m. at the Abundant Life Christian School. The suspected shooter is also dead, according to Police Chief Shon Barnes.

The attack is at least the 83rd school shooting of 2024, surpassing 2023 for the most school shootings in a single year since CNN began tracking such shootings in 2008.

Here’s the latest we have learned:

About the suspect:
The suspect was a 17-year-old female who died of a self-inflicted gunshot,

sources tell CNN. The motive is still unknown. However, the shooter planned the attack in advance, a law enforcement official familiar with the investigation told CNN. The source indicated that information gathered by investigators suggests the shooter had been dealing with problems and expressed some of those in writings, which they are now reviewing. Police Chief Barnes confirmed that heavy police presence at a home on the north side of Madison is related to the shooting, adding that the parents of the shooter are cooperating with the investigation.

Still, absolutely no reason whatsoever for good law-abiding American gun owners to even consider relinquishing their guns or forfeiting any of their Constitutional Rights to Keep & Bear Arms.....arms to be specifically used for lawful purposes......especially for self-defense.....to defend & protect themselves, their loved ones, their friends, & their property....

How about to protect their kids at school they give up their guns (or at least lock them up) so that their kid can't take the parents' gun to school and murder a bunch of innocent teachers and kids? By the way, the Second Amendment is archaic and needs to be changed to keep with the times. It was written when the average gun took 2-3 minutes to reload and was single shot only. It now takes 2-3 seconds and can carry 30+ rounds. It's lunacy.

It's far too easy for kids to gain access to a gun in the US.

I've said it before and I'll say it once again. American politicians did nothing beyond offering empty prayers when 20 children aged between 6 and 7 years old and 6 adult staff members were murdered by a 20 year-old using guns legally purchased by his mother. If they did nothing when almost two dozen 6 and 7 year old children were murdered at school, they never will. It is the single biggest failure by the US Congress in living memory that they did nothing.

If that ever comes to pass, I will grieve, I will morn.

That said, irregardless my sorrow & grief, as an American I will never ever relinquish my firearms, nor my Rights to keep , carry, or use them in whatever lawful way I, as an American Citizen, sees fit....without the need of anyone's consent.....I don't need, nor will I ever ask the government's consent to exercise any of my Rights.

No matter how many are killed, nor the ages of those taken by the unlawful use of a firearm are any reason to make useless knee-jerk reactionary laws. There is never any valid reason whatsoever for the American People to even consider relinquishing any of their Constitutional Rights used lawfully to defend themselves, & their loved ones.

Hmm, that limits your capacity to move around the world, no?  (most governments do not consider gun-ownership a "right".

And I'm hoping you aren't insane enough to refuse to give up your guns, if that "right" was ever repealed by your government...

Then, if you are an American Citizen, if you see that the Second Amendment needs revision, then petition the US Congress to submit your revision(s) for their consideration in beginning the Constitutional Amendment Process which is stated within Article Five of the United States Constitution. It describes the procedure for altering/amending the US Constitution. Under Article Five, the process to alter the Constitution consists of proposing an amendment or amendments, & subsequent ratification.

Until such ratification(s) takes place the US Constitution remains the same.....it states in the Second Amendment:

.........the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

Here's a valid reason - no one needs a gun. Few people here in Australia and other places like the UK have a gun and these countries very rarely see shootings. Owning a gun significantly increases your chances of being involved in a shooting and being injured or killed yourself. Carrying one on your person increases the risk even further. No one needs a gun.

The idiots are arming teachers or want to do so. Yup, folks, the answer to too many guns is more guns. Doesn’t get more idiotic than that.

Here in Australia, gun ownership is considered a privilege, and rightly so. Most people don't have a genuine need to own a gun, and so have no business owning one.

I read a news story about a shooting in a church. Some guy who was a Rambo wannabe took his gun to church and just happened to be there the day a gunman burst in. A gun battle ensued between the two and the Rambo wannabe churchgoer not only managed to miss the gunman, but also managed to hit and wound at least one other churchgoer. This is why teachers should not be armed. More chance of a child being shot in the crossfire.

Affectionately.......Americans, myself included, don't give a Royal Rats Ass what is done anywhere in the world, or what the laws are anywhere in the world....

America is for Americans, & Americans determine American Laws for Americans......period.

Comparisons with anywhere in the world means absolutely nothing to Americans, & how we Americans run our own Sovereign American Nation is by our American rules.....not World rules.....period
