Police had earlier reported that
a student and a teacher were killed and others were injured in the shooting

About the suspect:
The suspect was a 17-year-old female who died of a self-inflicted gunshot,

It's far too easy for kids to gain access to a gun in the US.

It's ridiculous.
Every: crack dealer, meth head, criminal in the hood, every psycho,
every kid at school, every violent thug -
has easy access to guns.

Nobody can control guns in America......close to 500 Million guns, & only 16% of them were ever registered.

Nobody knows where the millions of illegal, criminally owned guns are.

The proverbial horses have already bolted out the corral......200+ years ago & counting.....

‘’ Here's a valid reason - no one needs a gun. Few people here in Australia and other places like the UK have a gun and these countries very rarely see shootings. Owning a gun significantly increases your chances of being involved in a shooting and being injured or killed yourself. Carrying one on your person increases the risk even further. No one needs a gun.’’
I need a gun, a number of guns so that I can compete in Government sanctioned shooting events.
I compete in pistol shooting with both modern and antique pistols.
I compete in the historical military pistol events, historic muzzle loading military pistol events.
Percussion ml single shot pistol.
Flintlock ml single shot pistol

Centerfire rifle events, including military breech loading and military muzzle loading events, percussion and flintlock musket competitions.
and the various .22rim fire competitions, two a month currently.
Modern and antique shotguns at clay targets.

Then there are the spares.
I need a lot of guns purely for target shooting, a sport recognises and encouraged by State and the Federal Government.

My hunting and feral pest management guns are covered by the above, except for my dedicated fox rifle none are fitted with telescope sights.the fox rifle is a Ruger No1 [single shot] in .220 Swift and it is equipped with a variable scope 2 to 10 power, for certain kills and for head shots when the pelts are worth getting.

Just as an aside, did you know that most electrical fatalities occur where there is man made electrical power?
Abolishing all elect power would cause the fatalities to drop to zero, and remember, the world functioned before it was invented.

No electrical death except for lightning strikes.

You should look into statistics before posting.
Australia has a total of 3,158,745 legal firearms in civilian hands and an estimated 414,205 illegal

That’s 14.5 % of the population, but we know full well that many people have more than one gun so the percentage is not a true figure
But hardly ‘’few people’’.

You do not need unrestricted access to guns for any of that
And there is NOTHING stopping you doing any of that here in OZ and we don't just give guns out willy nilly..

You seem to be somewhat confused, who mentioned unrestricted access?
Of course there is nothing stopping me from doing that here in OZ, the Government sanctions and even encourages me to do so.
Otherwise there would not be Government grants for ranges and associated buildings [covered firing points, electronic targets, clubhouse and toilets [invalid and normal].

Licencing of electricians has not stopped electricity fatalities they still occur and mostly in the home.

Did you know that almost all fatalities and accidents with chain saws happened to a person using a chain saw?

And any moron in Australia can buy a motor vehicle and drive it on public roads, had a look at the road death toll lately?

Did you know that in NSW one must give way to any vehicle in a roundabout but morons in State and Local Government encourage the growing of bushes and tree on the centre island thus completely obscuring the view of other traffic from a motorist entering the roundabout?
Completely irrelevant, except for moronic acts.

But to drive a motor vehicle on an Australian road, you need to sit for a knowledge test to show you know the road rules. Then you need to get in a certain number of hours worth of practice before you can attempt the driving test. You also need to meet certain health/medical standards. If you want to buy a gun in America, it’s easier than getting a drivers license and that’s insane.

Yes indeed, let’s concentrate our energy on the countries that have a higher murder rate than the US and far stricter gun laws.
