Some states even have watered-down gun control laws. If you buy at a gun shop, you have to wait a set amount of days before you can pick up the gun. If you buy at a gun show, there's no waiting period. This is the kind of insanity the NRA has pushed into the pathetic gun laws in America. They're a joke.

Another school shooting in America and the gun nuts are the first to blame the lack of guns for the massacre....If only there was a good guy with a gun???

of course accidents are up ... there are 2 million extra cars on the road and 2.7 million extra drivers. On top of that, Cars that used to take 2 mins to get to 100km/hr now do it in 5 seconds. Restrictions don't stop all accidents and they are not designed to. They are designed to minimise the number of deaths .

Same goes with gun restrictions. They won't stop all gun deaths, no one ever said they would. The pro gun lobby pointing out random gun deaths in locations with restrictions only highlights their ignorance. Restrictions aim to reduce deaths.

The military style semi autos we restricted in 1996 were used in just over 1% of all firearm deaths from 1980-1995.
How much safer are we for restricting a type of gun used in just over 1% of all firearm deaths in that time period?

We have also outlawed toy Airsoft guns in most states along with BB guns that haven't killed anyone.

A guy was charged for having a water pistol outside NSW parliament recently how absurd is that?

Hunter Biden was charged with felony possession of a firearm he dumped it outside a school.
Joe pardoned his son for felony possession of a firearm.

But, Phil, it is easier to buy heroin in Australia than it is to buy a firearm.
Just go to a known drug area in any Australian city and see how long it takes to buy an illegal gun then see how long it takes to buy heroin.
The legal purchase of a firearm takes time and effort, which can take around 2 months or so for the first one.

Not absurd at all, depends what was in the water pistol.

I have long advocated the control of water pistols as they can be used to inflict lifelong horrendous injuries.
Filled with vinegar they are a handy self defence weapon, filled with shower scum remover they are a bit more potent, with household bleach serious eye injuries, with brake fluid the chance of real damage goes up.
If the pistol is made from an acid resistant plastic then permanent disfigurement or even death can result from a squirt.
