people under pressure

Humans' skin area is 1.5-2 sq metres. Air pressure is about 10 tons/ sq m. This is balanced by the internal pressure of the body which must be total 15-20 tons.  This is not enough for diving beyond 250 metres, 260 tons/ sq m. or about 500 tons total on a person. However, as water compresses by about .001 at that depth, you won't shrink too much. Don't go into outer space, but, with 15 tons inside you.
